Default OMG! :( SAD (not me but sensitive post)

My sister is a teacher in Victoria, Texas and a little boy choked to death on a marshmallow today.

PLEASE be careful. . . He was 9. They were doing a project and he was walking down the hallway eating some and choked.

Firechief said not the first time.

oh that's awful! i saw something the other day that there was a group of doctors who wanted the hot dog redesigned to reduce the choking hazard.

I assume the choking hazard is with the big marshmallows and not the mini ones? My kids eat the little ones all the time, but if those are a choking hazard too, they won't be getting them anymore!!!

I am pretty sure it was a big one. I never buy the big ones unless we are making smores or cooking with them. I have a hard time eating them so I can't imagine how it is for little ones.

I *think* it was a big one. (or more than one big one) I'll ask my sister.

I think little ones would be okay as long as they are not stuffing them in their mouth.

OMG so scary! My cousin who is only 1 month apart from me in age choked on a hot dog at a family gathering when we were very little and my mom remembers it like it was yesterday so she was always very cautious with me while I was growing up and she is even more cautious of what I feed my kids. Sometimes it drives me nuts how overly cautious she is but she said it's something she will never forget.

The paper didnt report what happened correctly AT ALL!

(okay...talked to my sister and they DID NOT tell the paper that he choked; pending autopsy!)

omg i would never have thought of marshmallows or hot dogs as something easy to choke on. Definately wont be giving them to my kiddo once hes old enough. Hes just started solids and im so paranoid hes going to choke on something.
