Default Hybrid: Disney Trading Pin Journal

The January 2012 hybrid challenge inspired me to make a Disney Trading Pin Journal. I just got back yesterday from a week long vacation in Orlando. A friend and I went to the parks without children ... we shopped, ate our way around the countries of Epcot, shopped, went to whatever restaurants we wanted to eat at, shopped, and then we shopped some more!! Had a couple of movie nights back at her house (she has 2 rental homes 15 minutes from Walt Disney World!) where I got her totally hooked on Gilmore Girls. It was so much fun!

It has pictures of pins we collect by character or type, pictures of my Jiminy Cricket pictures in my family room (so I don't buy a duplicate), pictures of my collectible statues, a place for notes on each child of which pins they are looking for, a page with pictures of the Crocs I was wanting to buy (with sizes) at the outlet, and of course my contact information if the book was (gasp!) lost. It also had several stiff felt pages to attach pins I traded for. That way at a glance we could see what Stitch or Jiminy Cricket pins we owned (picture page) or had just collected (felt page). I placed this journal inside a zipper pouch so none of the pins would fall out and to protect the journal. This made pin trading so much easier this time!

Yes I am a big Disney fan ... the room I am sitting in right now is a small family room ... it's my computer room, tv room, homeschool room all rolled into one. The pictures on the wall are all Disney ... 6 of them are cross stitch pictures and the rest are prints or Disney artist sketches of Jiminy Cricket. ...a couple of them have Jiminy collector pins matted with the print!! 90% of my room is Jiminy Cricket ... Statues, stuffed, clock, etc.

My husband made me 2 "shadow box frames" that hold my favorite pins ... one totally dedicated to Jiminy Cricket (which as of this trip with trading, I believe I may have filled it up!) and the other is Disney holiday pins ... and my new faves "nerd" and "gear" pins.

This room makes me happy.

Thanks for the compliments on my project. I did have people ask to see it when I was trading.

Wow this is a very cool idea! I've been collecting Disney pins for 10 years and my daughter just got into trading them. We might have to use this as inspiration for our next trip.

As a side note (in case you don't already know): www.pinpics.com is a cool website if you are searching for pins and you can create a log of what pins you own.

Sharon such an awesome Hybrid project. We only found 1 jimmy cricket pin the whole time we were in Disney this past week and of course my daughter refuses to part with it...It's a baby Jimmy cricket....She is collecting the "baby" characters.

This is a great idea. My 4 y/o pin trades and just collects the characters he likes but he forgets what pins he already has. He ended up with 3 of the same Tinkerbell pin.. lol.

I didn't know about the pinpics site ... thanks! Glad you like my project ... if I had had more time I would have made nicer printouts of the pins in the book.

I have that one ... in fact that is the pin I see the most often of Jiminy. I collected about 3 or 4 new ones this time ... more than my last trip!

Awesome idea. My son and mom both collect the Disney pins. While his is a rather random collection, hers in Scrooge McDuck. He is hard to find too. Have to check out that pin site for her.

Oh so glad you found some. I will have to keep an eye out for next time we go too. I think next year it will be D-world instead of land though as it's time to see family again.
