Default eek - I'm so excited...

Call me a nerd...

Some of you are probably aware that I'm obsessed when it comes to my son's birthday party and his themes... remember last year's airplane theme? https://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/i...ir-to-a-party/

Well, it's that time of year again - where I'm in massive planning stage for my next party... and since my kiddo is obsessed with the weather - like the first thing he does every morning is to find out what the weather is going to be like and when it's going to rain/snow next... so, we are going to have a weatherman party!

Okay, here is my excited part... I had this great idea of seeing if I could get autographed headshots of our local weather guys. So, I emailed them all last week - and I've heard from most and photos are on the way... well, one of them was so excited on hearing about Jake interest in weather, that he offered for us to come down to the station and he will give Jake a tour of the weather center and talk to him about how they do the weather... I think I'm more excited than Jake is... heck, hubby and grammy wants to come, too!

yes, you can call me a nerd... I'm just so excited about that - and has taken my mind off that I have no idea how I'm going to the the invite that is designed in my head out onto paper... or what other decor I'm going to make...

And what to make for lunch... any ideas on that? Can you think of any "weather" related food items... I've searched pinterest and only come up with blue jello with cool whip as clouds...

Hmmm... lightning bolt french fries? Hamburger patties in 'cloud' shapes? Marshmallow-topped somethings for hail/snowballs?

Very cool!

I assume you have this kit.

And the kid in this kit could give you a "weatherman" if you're looking for that.

You are such a cool mom, Rebecca! How fun!!!!

I love the idea for a rainbow fruit tray, you could do a cake that looks like a sunshine, you could label the ice bucket (for drinks) "hail", maybe some sort of punch that's tinted blue with "clouds" of lemon sherbet floating on top?

you ladies are awesome!! Please keep the ideas flowing!!

I totally forgot about cloudy with a chance of meatballs... will have to rent that movie again!

Love the rainbow veggie tray idea... and I have to chuckle on the cloud shaped hamburgers and lightening fries... haha!

I was just playing with Kristin's Weatherman kit when I was working on a "what is the weather" chart for kiddo - haven't finished that yet... and I totally forgot about Allie's rain kit... that would be great for the invites!

Thanks for all the ideas... I'm soo excited for this party!! *sigh* I wish I could throw Jake like four birthday parties a year... I so love this part!

oohh... missed that second pinterest board... hmm, wonder why that didn't pop up during the search... oh well.

I want to do something like this for the cake top - the weather radar thingy (see I really need this tour to find out proper names haha)... slap a 6 on the side for kiddo's age... I think if I made a rice krispy ball and covered with white fondant and drew on with cake markers, I could do it...

I'd love to do a rainbow cake, but not sure I could get my mom to go along... she is a very strong believer that all birthday cake must be marble. But I tell you, a rainbow cake would totally blow my hubby's aunt who already thinks I'm Martha Stewart... hahah (so far from it... )

eta.. also love this cake... totally on the same thinking path, brook!

I have 3 kids with birthdays you could borrow, LOL! I have to start planning my 6 year old's party for next month, but the party-throwing gene missed me by a mile. I wouldn't miss it if I never had to plan another one again.

I'm with Rachel. You can go ahead and take over for my kids' birthdays. I have yet to throw a "friends" party. The thought of it just makes me shudder.

How awesome! What a fun party theme too!

I love planning parties but don't like actually executing them. If someone could just take over and let me sit back and watch the action, I'd be happy. My kids don't want theme parties these days and I kinda miss them.

haha, Mari... yikes - too much pressure to plan parties for others... maybe my friends... haha

Wow... I've gotten 5 out of 12 meteorologist's autographs so far.... the station where we are getting the tour from... well, another one of their meteorologists just sent Jake a handful of pencils with their weather slogan and logo... window clings... and a book on El nino... Man! I love Channel 2 News! It is the station I grew up watching because my grandfather and parents watched it... and this all for Jake - they have cemented a life long watcher in him, too! Hopefully next week we will get our tour... I hope... every day Jake asks if this is the day we go see Steve Baylen... hahaha...

That's so cool Rebecca! He's going to love it and I think it's great you had such a great response from the meteorologists. I can't wait to see pics of the end results.
