Unhappy *sigh* pneumonia

Mason's been on antibiotics for pneumonia for a week and a half now and at first he seemed to be getting better, then this weekend it seemed like it was coming back again. Well, we went to the doctor this afternoon and it is not only back (or still there?) but his breathing is even worse now. The poor boy had to have a shot of antibiotics in his leg and got a prescription for stronger antibiotics to take over the next several days. I also have strict instructions to just take him straight to the ER if his breathing seems to get worse, he seems lethargic, he starts throwing up again, his fever spikes, or if he just doesn't appear to be getting better. We have to go back Monday for yet another follow up on it, and if the nurse doesn't deem him better (or at least significantly improved) I have to take him in for more chest xays and we'll get a referral to a specialist.

Oh, gosh Trish!!! Scary stuff. I hope this stronger antibiotic kicks it in the a$$!

Does he have asthma? I do and I've had attacks that were super scary when I was sick, but I've never had pneumonia, thankfully. It's a scary thing to have a hard time breathing. Please keep us updated.

Poor little dude.

I was diagnosed with pneumonia right after thanksgiving and it took almost 6 weeks for me to feel better.

He woke up fever free. I was all excited until my mom pointed out that most kids do wake up with lower fevers/fever free. ((way to rain on my parade mom)) She was all "the trick is to KEEP him fever free." I know this, I do in fact have four other bigger kids. One I've managed to keep alive almost 9 years.

Sorry, I just didn't get much sleep last night, what with worrying about Mason all night.

Oh I am sorry for your son - I hope the antibiotics help make him better. I have been sick too since Christmas and finally they diagnosed it was pneumonia. While I feel still horrible - I am truly happy for a diagnosis and treatment plan.
