Default Help please - what exactly is a CD album

I just bought Dani's cool Rock Star kit and couldn't resist the opportunity to get the CD album with it.

But...

I have no idea how to go about making one.

I can see that I make up the pages first, but what do I do then? Can someone help me out please.

Thank you.

Kerry

Hi Kerry!

I have only made one CD album, so I am no expert, but I wanted to help you out! What I did was complete the pages and then print them out. I took old CD's and had my husband drill a hole in each of them. I then attached the photos with modge podge. I stuck a jump ring through the CD's, added a few ribbons, and done. Let's see if I can find a picture for you...

Hope that helps!

Janet that is sooo cute! I'm so envious of all you supah good digi scrappers.
Hmm, Robin with a drill. Could that be potentially dangerous?

That is brilliant, Janet. Thank you.

I think I'll have a go at doing this for Father's Day. Thankfully, that's not until September in New Zealand, so I have time to make my plans.

I think I want to make it for DH, but I could always ask his Dad to do the drilling for me. My FIL is where hubby gets his handman skills from in the first place.

I made some CD Christmas ornaments this year, and I didn't even want to TRY a drill. So, I bought a crop-o-dile (is that how you spell it?) from Michael's with a 40% off coupon. That sucker punches right through the CD with no problems at all. VERY handy investment if you do much paper-crafting.

Wow Janet! That CD album is awesome! Now I am inspired. Wondering if there is some large round chipboard out there. I am sure there is. Anyone know?

If so, I would print the pages on cardstock or Epson Matte Paper and then adhere to round chipboard. (I use my xyron for adhesive) Then I would cut off the excess paper with a craft knife . It would be easy to punch a hole in the chipboard and use a jump ring to secure the pages.

I might give that a try!

Nice tip Libby! Gotta get me one of those. Hey does Michael's still do 40% of coupons? I haven't been there in forever.

Oh yea! I was wondering if the crop-o-dile would go through a CD. I almost bought one a few weeks ago but didn't want to spend the $ if it didn't work. But with me being dragged (by my own desires!) closer and closer to the "other" dark side of paper/hyrbrid stuff, this would be a great tool to own.

Yes, you can get chipboard albums out there. I had a lady told me she got one from 7Gypsies, I think. I like the CD's though because I have so many laying around with scratches or baby licks that don't work anymore.

The one I made was super fun to make and plan to do more! I think they are fun and would make a great gift!

Susan -- you should check online for a coupon for Michael's. We don't have them here but we do have Hobby Lobby's -- I just googled Hobby Lobby coupon and found a 40% off one item coupon!

I asked DH about drilling holes in CDs and he got so enthused by the idea he had to do and and do a trial. So I now have one CD with a beautiful hole in it and the promise of more as required.

Now I have to take the time to pick out some photos.

Is Modge Podge the only product recommended? Will it last a really long time? I am so interested in trying this project out. I have been eyeing Laura's Springtime in Paris CD album!

How far from the side should we drill the CD? No breakage?

I used Modge Podge because that is the only thing I knew to use. I am NOT, nor have I ever been, a paper scrapper. So I know nothing about paper supplies. I am sure there is some nifty stuff that is out there

My holes were drilled about 3/4 in towards the CD.

HTH!

That's the same way I did mine, but I used a spray adhesive to put them on the cds and the modge podge over the top to seal them. But one thing, did you put pictures on the front and back of the cd? The backs of mine look awful, because I didn't do a double sided album.
