how bad does a 600x600 layout printed look??
So I lost all my layouts back when I lost all my kits... and some photos... err leaving it at that.
Anyway I'm wondering how bad does it look it I would grab some of my layouts in the 600x600 format and print those so I still have them?? |

Because they are 72DPI I dont think they would look really good. Maybe you could print them as a mini book if they dont have to much journalling?? Like 4x4 or so

if you're planning on printing them 8X8, they'll look bad. not that i'd know from experience :/
if you print them in 4X4 or something, they'd probably look fine!

could you put a bunch of them together in one layout, maybe keeping them small will help.

I accidentally printed a 600 x 600 in a 12 x 12 book. It didn't look pretty.

Good Luck-I really like the idea of a lot of small on a large.

Have you resized them to 72dpi? What if they were left at the original 300 dpi and just resized to the 600x600??
I don't know. |

This is worth checking. When I first started, I never changed my LOs to 72 when I resized (well, I actually just started to LOL). Maybe you did the same thing?!

I've never changed the dpi on my pages, that's why I'm asking.

From what I understand, DPI doesn't matter. The actual pixel dimensions matter. A 600x600 at 300 dpi is the same as a 600x600 at 72 dpi.

Megan is correct... 600x600 will print clearly at 2x2. I would probably feel comfortable even going up to 4x4. i've printed pics on layouts that i only had saved for web, and they printed fine. So, it would be worth doing a test print.

I printed some of mine that I had to come back here or other galleries and re download {cause I lost them all} and I printed them in a 8x8 book and some were ok and some were not....the more white space LO's were ok, the ones with lots of stuff on them weren't

You could increase the size using the 110% increase, it does help with the quality a bit, but I wouldn't say anything bigger than 4x4 would print well at all. Sorry that happened to you!

Yes, you are totally right. 600 pixels are 600 pixels. DPI refers to the the dots (or pixels) per inch (how you distribute those pixels). If you take 600 pixels and spread them out, it will not look as sharp, since you have less pixels per inch. 600x600 can be printed at 2"x2" at 300 DPI or 10"x10" at 60DPI, etc .... (any combination, as the print space increases, the DPI decreases). You can use Photoshop (or other programs) to resample, where you increase the image size and the program guesses at what pixels to fill in the space with. I have printed some 600x600's out and they look okay, but certainly not fantastic

so I'll really do a great test print I think and see what I come up with... hey I was thinking of doing a big thing in her book with printed off her blog and all the different web stuff... I think a 12x12 spread of 4x4 would be a great way to start... no since in making them look worse when 4x4 is perfectly okay size.
very cool to know about all the dpi and pixel thing... I just have always dropped the 72 because I was told too lol |
