Default Baby shower - help!

I am one of the hostesses for a baby shower for my oldest niece. I haven't been to a baby shower in years. I need some help regarding the favors. What do hostesses normally give as a baby shower favor these days? Is it just one item, candy, etc.? If you've given a baby shower, about how much did you spend for each favor?

Thank you!!

Favors are on the way out. Not being done much anymore. If you still want to, do food. I gave custom M&Ms at mine way back when.

Really? I had no idea they are on their way out. I never would have guessed, based on the tons of stuff out there. That's why I need some input. Thank you for the info!

I see a lot of cute custom sugar cookies (one cookie per person, usually) as favors.
The most recent shower I attended did not give favors and I wasn't sad about it.
If they had said, "we were going to give you a cookie as a favor but changed our mind," I might have been sad, but I definitely don't mind not bringing home a candle, a seed packet or a mini hand cream.

A cake pop or little bags of jelly beans or "gourmet" popcorn

I like the cookie idea, but the person in charge of getting the cake is also getting cookies. Thank you for your other food ideas - they give me something to look into!
