Default Hurricane Matthew

I know we have a lot of Florida girls and other southern states - how is everyone doing? My brother-in-law and his wife/family have evacuated to the western side of the state - hope everyone stays safe!

We are just outside the evac zone (like half a mile) so we are currently riding it out. Supposed to get nasty here in a few hours.

My parent evacuated yesterday out of Jacksonville. They are thinking they will get flooding at their house.

I've been thinking of everyone in the path of the hurricane. Praying you all remain safe and no damage is done to your homes.

A real bummer is that my sister is supposed to get married next weekend in St. Augustine -- at a historic hotel a block in from the beach. Given the storm surge in St Augustine, we have no idea if the venue will be ok or not. Weddings are already stressful enough without that craziness!

Oh no! That's where by b-i-l lives - St. Aug's getting battered from what I'm hearing.

I saw video of Jacksonville Beach. It looked awful there.

As for me everything was good here. No damage. Power out for a few hours. Its spotty off and on again. Hoping it does not go back out. But we are all safe. Im praying my daughters home is safe. She lives right next to the river and evacuated. She wont know how it looks until they come home tomorrow. And the lights are out so its super dangerous to be out there right now.

My in-laws are in Hollywood (between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale). They battened down the hatches and were taking off the hurricane shutters in between rain bands the last we talked to them. We used to Live in that area and I'm so glad we don't at the moment!

We are south of West Palm Beach, which thankfully ended up missing the strong hurricane force winds due to the storm taking a sudden hop east!

Sadly, St. Augustine is taking a hit. It's one of our favorite Florida Vacation spots. I will be sad if some of the historic homes get damaged. And, Haiti is in such a bad state right now... I feel terrible... our church built homes, churches, and orphanages to help people there in Les Cayes. We also installed solar panels, built fish farms, as well as water supply tanks... they are all destroyed. Years and years of mission work.

Stay safe, everyone. Thankfully it sounds like none of you got hit with the worst. I hope the same is true for everyone who hasn't checked in yet!

That's terrible! So sorry for the losses everyone in Haiti is dealing with again.

We made it through with no damage to our home, but the majority of our area is without power and there are tons of trees down. Waiting to hear the damage report and see when things will get back to normal.

My Aunt is in FL and made it through with minimal damage (her fence was knocked down)... I have family along the East coast all the way up so I keep watching updates from everyone.... so far so good.

How about you Marie? How has your weather been today? We are expected to get hit with a lot of rain this evening and through tomorrow with high risk of flooding. If it hasn't been too bad for you today maybe I don't have to worry as much as it makes its way up here.

It hasn't been bad Jenn - we've had rain but more of a steady "normal" rain. Not even windy tonight. Tomorrow is supposed to be cloudy with no rain but windy.

Finally getting a chance to check in! We were lucky in that other than a lot of wind and rain, we fared well. My hometown as well as our favorite little vacation spot on the coast were both hit really hard. My mom, sister, and nephew, and brother-in-law have been without power since Friday night, and the power company is saying it could be another week or two before everything is fully restored in their area.
