Default Any one else in the storm zone tonight?!

We are supposed to get damaging winds, large hail, and just in case that's not enough there's a chance for tornadoes.

I'm hoping that the predictions are incorrect! But if you are in the storm's path, be safe!!

February is a tad early, but we've had such a mild winter. I was shocked to see that the trees downtown are budding out and the tulips are starting to bud.

We're in for just rain today/tonight but we have a risk for severe weather Friday night. We can have tornadoes anytime in the South..especially LA/MS/AL...the price we pay for that warm gulf stream air I suppose.

also.. can i mention how weird this winter has been ? I joked the other day that i missed out on spring last year being sick.. so mother nature decided to forgo winter this year and just give me an extended spring to make up for it. Now, I'm a new englander and we're weird with cold.. but i seriously have only worn my coat a handful of times. I've been in hoodie weather gear most of winter.

Not quite tornadoes....but we are supposed to be getting storm of the century tonight. They are predicting feet of snow and 60mph sustained winds, etc, etc. The winds are already starting and it's SO cold. Hubby watches about 7 different weather forecasts (mostly to know how exciting work will be), they rarely ever are the same and they are actually all lining up with the same info and he says it's on shore now, which means the storm is very much on the way... They called him in to work early, last night, for tonight and the next couple of nights.

Very odd. It's been a very dry & mostly mild winter for us too. We desperately need water/rain/snow,

Our weather man was just talking about the warm winter we've had and said this year is a La Nino winter and the weather though odd is actually the norm for that type of weather pattern..we usually have mild winters down here of course but we usually have a good month of freezing nights..this year maybe a handful of below freezing temps and then only for a day or so at a time.

We're just due for some rain, which we really need. According to the news this morning, far eastern Oklahoma has a chance of tornadoes, but that should be passing us up.

We are in that dark red area on the map with you. This is our forecast as of now...

Quote:
Windy with thunderstorms, possibly strong late. Damaging winds and large hail with some storms. Low 56F. Winds S at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 80%.
I hate night time storms. Especially if it gets bad enough for tornadoes. It is so much harder to see things at night. And I don't sleep at all.

Stay safe to all those who might get bad weather!

ick with the tornado talk! We were suppose to get walloped with a good snow storm... but looks like it's tracking way north - so it's going to be a rain/sleet event. This sure has been a crazy winter!

Praying y'all stay safe!

We had that kind of crazy weather this past Friday. It's been unseasonably warm (80's!!), and we were under a tornado watch the entire day. I had to drive home through crazy amounts of rain and hail. It was no bueno.

There's a chance of more storms for us tomorrow. I sure hope it's nothing as severe as last Friday!

Stay safe, girls!!

Our weather man just posted on his facebook page...

Quote:
We have a batch of scattered showers and thunderstorms working through the region right now. These will blow right on by over the next hour. Then I don't expect much to happen until after 9pm tonight. A big line of showers and thunderstorms will develop west of us and plow east. This should effect the area from west to east from 10pm-2am. The main threat is going to be gusty winds and large hail. But with the shear(wind changing with height) that has increased, we can't rule out some isolated small tornadoes with this batch of storms. I will keep you all updated through the evening and of course tonight.

We are in a "High Wind Warning." The wind is currently blowing 36mph (substained) gusting to 65mph. They are warning that it could start knocking power lines down. Ek. And you can't really see because the dust is blowing so bad.

I live in the part of Oklahoma that went through the dust bown in the 30s. It actually looks a lot like that outside today.

I'm in north central Arkansas and our local weather guy has a nice bullseye figured up that we're ight in the middle of. He posted on his facebook earlier that they've moved it a little further north but I'm still in the area, but he said that it will make the chance of tornadoes lower. It didn't get too overly warm here today, 65 degrees is all, so my hubby said he doesn't really think it's going to do much. Everyone in the path of storms stay safe!!!

We are getting hit by a blizzard tonight. Its not supposed to be as bad as they normally are cause its going to be warmer than usual when blizzarding and the wind isn't as strong as a normal blizzard, but with our mild winter, it will feel bad. They are predicting a foot here. I still gotta go to work in the morning though and I am in charge, so no calling in for me for sure even if we could. lol

We're supposed to be storming over the next few days as well, but nothing crazy. This winter really has been so mild. I think I've only worn my coat once or twice - mostly I've been wearing my fleece jacket. We've had plenty of water, just in the form of rain, not snow. The mountains do have snow, though. I hear the skiing has been pretty good. So, that's just the way I like it.

Everyone stay safe!

We're already having white out conditions and they have closed the freeway southbound in "town" (we're out in the boonies, lol)

So basically if you're wanting to get from WA, OR into CA you're not going there tonight.

We have a chance of rain tonight, with scattered Tstorms tomorrow, and possible high of 61 I'm loving the mild winter we're getting here, but I was slightly disappointed that we didn't have a white Chirstmas this year... Lately that's the only time I really want snow.

I hope all you girls getting bad weather stay safe!

We had a threat of storms last night, but I never heard anything. Friday is supposed to be our bad day/night although we are under a tornado watch today. Unfortunately tornadoes have become a regular thing around here. I've lived here 15 years and we've had 3 major (F4 or F5) tornadoes hit our town since I moved here plus many more in the surrounding areas. I hate it when the weather gets bad.

Branson, MO got hit by a tornado last night. One of my friend's theaters lost part of the roof, damaging the light/sound equipment inside. It went right down the strip which is dense with theaters, restaurants and hotels.

Not as bad as Joplin, but it's a much smaller town and lots of people depend on shows for income. Hoping they can rebuild quickly.

We had a LOT of hail. They say golf ball sized to baseball sized but what was in our yard didn't look that big. There was a ton of it though, the ground looked like it had snowed after the storm, and it was coming down fierce. We woke the kids up and brought them downstairs because their beds are both under windows and I was too nervous to leave them up there.

My brother called and said he lost power when lightening hit a power box. He also said he saw a funnel cloud swirling above. It didn't touch down in our area but still too close to home as Branson is just about an hour and a half away.

Kim, yes, I heard that Branson was hit this morning. I also heard one touched down outside of Springfield, Mo as well as in KS.

Sherri - wow, that's some BIG Hail

The wind here was crazy, but we didn't lose any branches/trees. I was trying to stay up so I could get everyone down in the basement if needed, but I fell asleep. I really need to get a weather radio!

Where are you Penny? We had the storms last night, in Northwest Arkansas... the rotation was over us, but moved on just as it got stronger. The storm was strong, woke up me and I was just startled by it.

I'm in Southeast Kansas so we probably aren't too far away from one another.

Yup, you are super close... we live about 30 minutes either south of the Missouri border and about 30 minutes east (or less) of the Oklahoma border.

The wind last night was the worst part. I thought we got some hail too but I am not completely sure, it all went by pretty fast at least.

I am in Southern IL and a small town near me (Harrisburg) was hit by an EF4 tornado early this morning. They have 6 fatalities (they said ten then changed it to six). I know there was also a loss in Stoddard Co, MO. So sad for all those who have lost loved ones.

Our blizzard never came. We got a bit of snow and bit of wind, but it was pretty much nothing. Those severe storms down south kept the bad weather and didn't allow it to go north like it was supposed to.

I'm brokenhearted over the devastation in Branson.

Harveysville KS got hit VERY hard with at least 1 death.

I think anyone can see this since its a public facebook page. Anyway, this photo was taken at my friend's farm (the friend we got our grey bunny, Bitsy, from). She was injured pretty badly. She has a broken back. She is getting up there in years, retired, probably 70, and could use prayer as I know recovering won't be easy on her. She's a fighter but this is just awful. Thankfully no lives were lost, I pray Barbara pulls through!
