Jeff has nonsmall cell squamous lung cancer, stage one. He has to have a PET scan to make sure that is all there is and then we meet with the surgeon. He has enough lung function tha they can take out his entire lung if they have to. We should be having the scan soon and meeting with surgeon this week.

oh it sounds like it was caught early!!! I'm praying the PET scan is clear of no more cancer and you get a surgery date SOON!!!

I am glad that they seem to have caught it so early. I know it will sound silly - but take care of yourself as well. No sleep is not good at a time when you need to be strong. Thinking of you

I agree with Rachel, take care of yourself, too. You guys are in my thoughts and prayers! Thank God it's stage 1 and not stage 4. It sounds like the dr's are optimistic.

*hugs* I am so incredibly glad for you that it is at stage 1, and that it appears to have been caught very early. I hope the PET scan and surgeon bring good news as well and this battle is easy to fight. you guys remain in my prayers.

That sounds like the best prognosis (aside from sorry we made a mistake) that you could have gotten! Hoping the scan goes well and the surgeon can get it all out and your husband makes a fast recovery. And the others are right try to get some rest. This is coming from experience. I barely slept when my husband was in the hospital and afterwards I was so worried about his breathing or him getting up and falling. Well it really took its toll on me after a few days of that.

While cancer is never an easy diagnosis it sounds like some positive news in there. I will continue to pray for him and for you!

My grandma had 3/4 of her 'good' lung removed (she had chronic emphysema and COPD from the time she was a kid) and still did well without it. Its good to hear he has good lung function to begin with. That should make things easier. Keep us updated!
