A little bit of self-praise, but I have to.

Let me start the story by telling that I tend to do compilations of my favourite songs, according to various criteria, sometimes absurd ones. I've done loads and and I always make a cover for each. Actually, THAT was the reason why I decided to start scrapbooking, it seemed as a good way how to enhance my CD-cover-creating skills. That's how I started, doing CD covers, but then I kind of got hooked and started doing "real" scrapbooking (i.e. doing pages), and my CD Muse has been avoiding me for ages, so I had a longest pause of about a year and a half.

In autumn 2009 I started compiling though, but it's taken me ages to get the tracks into right order (I did million other things besides, that's why so long), but finally, it's done, and there's a fresh cover, done scrapbook-style.

To all who'd like to do something like this themselves: I *do* recommend it. It's multiple fun - choosing the theme and the criteria of choice, choosing the songs themselve, arranging the tracklist, thinking up the name for the CD and, of course, the graphics design part when doing the cover. :-)

You get to use your musical / verbal / visual talents, all in one project.

Thanks. Actually, thinking up the name is one of the most fun parts of the process of putting together a compilation.

First one has to get the overall idea, which usually comes when I realise I like a couple of songs which have a common denominator (in this case contemporary songs heavily relying on synthesizers), the title usually comes during the very exciting phase of looking for songs. Probably my favourite one phase, too.

Comes the listening / further looking and adding / elimination phase, which is still fun. The arranging them into the right order is not that intriguing, neither is the actual burning the CD. But the cover design is, once again, fun (I never burn the CD before I have the cover).

If the result is fine, it's also quite fun to actually keep listening to your CD, which, with this one, is the case.
