Default Just quit my job

I'm probably crazy to quit a great job in times like these, but I just did.

We have three kids, ages 5 and under. Since I went back to work after my maternity leave, it's been crazy. Chaotic. We're barely surviving, and not really living. I'm up throughout the night with sick kids, and then expected to be at work at 8 am to discuss budgets. Our kids and our marriage have suffered. This wasn't a decision that we considered realistic or reasonable until the last few weeks - but it's become increasingly clear that this is the right thing for our family right now. It's going to be interesting financially - we'll be okay, but things will be tight.

I'm so excited for more time with my kids, more photo ops and MORE SCRAPPING!

It's defeniately a touch decision to make! We made that same decision 4 years ago and we do not regret it!! We survived financially. It's so rewarding to get to be a SAhm... congrats

that is a great thing fior you and your kids!! The payoff of being able to be home with your children when they are young is worth it if you are able to do it financially.

I sometimes wish mine were little still. I know my youngest is still kinda little (he is 3 months shy of 13) but he is so BIG that it is hard to think of him as little anymore (like 5 ft 8ish and about 170 pounds!!) At least 3 inches taller then me which is weird because he is only 12 and my daughter is just 6 weeks shy of graduating!! Time goes by sooo quickly

Congrats on your decision!! We too made the same decision two years ago and I'm so happy that I did... I'm happier and my hubby is happier in knowing that all is running smoothly at home. It took me a while (almost a year) to get use to being a SAHM... I struggled with not having that work side of my personality. And with the money side... you do adjust... and for me the amount of money it cost me to work was more than my staying home - well until I joined the digi scrapping world... LOL!!

Congrats on making a tough decision! Having 3 that young is tough enough without trying to work at the same time.

Even though I never held a full time job, I only worked part time and it was always the opposite shift of my hubby we made the desicison about 5.5 years ago for me to quit and stay at home and if anything it's been better financially for us!!! It allowed my hubby to focuse more on his job and to devote more time to it when he was home (instead of taking car of the house, the kids ect cause I was at work). It also was easier for us to make the desicion to move when the time came for a promotion because we were not concered with my "job". Now because of all that he have increased his salary by about $30,000 dollars a year.......way way more then I ever made working part time retail!!!!

Congrats Kara, it really will become the best desicion you ever made!!!!

I was fortunate enough to stay home with my boys, although it was a struggle financially. We lived week to week...but we did it and I'm so glad we did! It was truly a blessing! Now, I enjoy working part time and would even like to work full time now that they are all grown.

Congrats! I am sure you will really enjoy the change. I did it for 2 years, it was not for me, but I didn't really realize it until I did go back to work.

Congrats. I love staying home, I couldn't imagine trying to find a job with all our moving. My job is taking care of the house/kids/preschool and making sure our life runs smooth with his job. I think everything will turn out okay.

Congrats! Enjoy this new part of your journey.

ETA: as far as finances, I find that trying to cook more from scratch at home has helped us.

Congratulations on taking a big step for yourself and your family. It was a tough decision for me to decide to leave my full-time job and go part-time three years ago but it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I hope the transition is smooth for all of you.

Thanks, everyone! I feel good about it. Up until 3 years ago, I was a SAHM but had to return to work due to my husband's health. We both work for the same employer, and they've been very gracious in allowing him to work a reduced schedule for the past few years. This is truly the only place I'd ever want to work, I love working here, and if I could stay on very part-time (like 10 hours a week), I would. But my position here is more than full-time and that's just not working for our family right now.

I'm excited for this new stage, although I know it will be hard in different ways.

Congrats! I did this same thing after Teaghan was born and it's been the best decision ever! My husband has been able to pick up more side jobs here and there in addition to his job (he's in construction) and it's been a blessing. I have time to actually clean and cook and just be a mom! it's wonderful. I wish you nothing but enjoyment doing it!

I did this last October. And honestly it was tough, financially. But we adjusted and survived and Dh got an increase for landing a client, which he wouldn't have if we sharing the household stuff and then his annual increase aswell. And just today, he's been officially made part of management.

It will work out because it has to.

those decisions are sooo hard to make...
you need the money but the family needs you too...
I have faith for you that it will work out and your family will
