I've stayed at the Residence Inn Downtown/Loop. (It was pre-covid btw.) Nice location, good price for two bedrooms and a kitchen, which made breakfast easy.

My hubby and I love to take a weekend or over night trip to Chicago to celebrate our spring anniversary. We haven't been since Covid, but here are the two hotels we stayed in and loved:
Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel, 1 W Wacker Dr, Chicago, IL 60601 (which is not the same one that Sara listed, but pretty close. This one was right on the river so it was close to all the State street shopping and stuff and just a couple blocks from the Michigan Ave shopping. That was my favorite of the two, so these were both great locations Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 E Wacker Dr, Chicago, IL 60601 This one is also on the river, but further away from State street shopping. I love the stuff on State street better than Michigan ave personally because there is a Blick art store which is my FAVE and then more normal shopping places that I can afford. Ha ha! One of the things I highly recommend is going to the restaurant on the top of the John Hancock building. We went for a glass of wine and dessert and it was a little pricey, but the view was amazing and totally worth the experience. We just walked up to the door and there wasn't a wait (in March or April) and we got a table right next to the window. You'd probably have to look up what the rules are now with covid stuff. |

OH! I forgot to add that my hubby just checks priceline and we usually would get those hotels for around $100-$120 a night. It's totally worth checking on there. We had great luck with them every time.

We are Hyatt loyalists aka snobs, haha... we have been to almost all of them downtown Chicago over the years, always very nice. If you want to be really boogie - Park Hyatt is amazing (but pricey - we travel hack and have status so we always pay on points). Hyatt Centric the Loop is right across from the hotel and walking distance to Michigan Ave. The Hyatt Regency McCormick Place is a bit father out - we just take the bus to Michigan Ave - but we have stayed here the most and really like it - it's nice and quiet.

Fun! My honeymoon was to Chicago! We also went about 12 years ago with the girls. I don't remember the hotel we stayed at, but it was near or on the Magnificent Mile (is it even called that still). It was near the American Girl store (since that was our main goal of that trip).
Have fun! There is so much fun things to see and do! WE loved Shedd Aquarium. We actually got the year pass since it allowed us to skip the long line (yay) and we could use it at other zoos and aquariums.
