Any one have a favorite app/program that they use on the computer to find duplicate files? We've been doing A LOT of computer shuffling in our house over the last year and I have found that I have photos saved in multiple spots and I need to clean it up. I know that there are probably quite a few duplicates and it would help to have a program but there are so many in the app store that I thought I would ask and see if anyone has any good or bad reviews.

Gemini for Mac looks like it might be a good one but I haven't tried it. My drive is a hot mess though so I probably should, haha. http://macpaw.com/gemini

Thx. I'll read that tutorial. I'm going to get a new hard drive later this year and want to sort and delete any duplicate photos (I know I have lots).

Gemini was the one I was looking at because it seemed to have the best reviews but I wanted to check with anyone who had actually done it. Thanks!

I use Gemini and have been very happy with it. Easy to use and does what it's supposed to do. It can take a bit of time to run the first few times while there are lots of multiple, depending on how big your drive is... It took hours to run the first time around, but my external hard drive is 3TB and had thousands of multiples...

Does it automatically delete what it thinks are duplicates or let you decide to delete? It would scare me to just let it run without being able to check!

No, it asks before it deletes. (Which, if like me you wind up having thousands of multiples, it will take a looooong time to sort through), but it's worth the while!
