April Blackout Challenge: Are You Ready?!

So some of us Babes & designers, including me, are challenging ourselves and YOU to complete (or get as close as possible to) an April Bingo Blackout!



I know there's still a couple of days until the card is posted but I wanted you to have a couple of days to mentally prepare if you don't normally complete the blackout.



I will be posting weekly encouragement threads to keep you motivated (separate from the Bingo with the Babes threads) & on track to complete every single challenge in the month of April.

I have zero inspiration !! LOL Still haven't started my layout but I will do it....I still have tomorrow too, no ???

I finally finished my March card, my third blackout this year. It was a hard one, for some reason, but I am so glad I made myself do it! I'm in for April!

I really wish I had the time or inclination these days But with 2 jobs I'm finding it difficult to scrap pages that I actually want to scrap and there are so many of the challenges that I find I would never scrap so I don't want to waste my scrapping time on them

I'm looking forward to seeing some new challenges. I just wasn't feeling the March card. And I'm with Marie, if the challenges are too out there, then I don't want to waste my time on them. I too seem to have less time to scrap and want to spend it on layouts that I want in my albums.

It sounds like fun, but I'm going to use this as inspiration to complete a pattern (9 layouts) instead of blackout. I can't scrap that many layouts in a month! And like Marie and Corey said, with my scrapping time being limited I want to spend it on the layouts I really want to make, not things that might fit challenges. I consider it a win if I can find 2 lines or a pattern on the Bingo Card that really inspires me and then also find time to get all 9 or so layouts scrapped. But if I can find a pattern that I like on the April card, I'll shoot for finishing that and posting!

I don't make layouts that don't make it into my albums, either. All of my challenge pages will be ones that I will print (eventually) vs. 'throwaway' pages. Sometimes I take some poetic license with how I interpret a challenge if I need to.

I hear you on making all the pages you make count. This month, I tried really hard to make the challenges fit pages I already needed to make, and I mostly succeeded. There were a few that didn't quite work that way, but I do see the time spent on learning new things and stretching myself as valuable in helping me become a better scrapper.

I do that a lot with the challenges, too. But as I've switched to scrapping a little more chronologically, sometimes the pages I want/need to scrap just don't work for the challenges. I know that I could go back to old photos and stretch the interpretation of the challenge and find something to scrap that wouldn't be a throwaway page, but when I'm only finding time to finish 8-10 pages a month I'm not willing to go back and do too many of those. That's what stops me from participating in the challenges most months. I can easily find 10 challenges I want to do, but they're usually scattered all over the card instead of in a pattern.

I have never done a blackout and don't know that I have enough time. If only that paying job would allow me time to scrap during the day. Evening scrapping just does not seem to give me enough time. I will try to at least get an X done.

I want to shoot for this. I did really good last year, but ugh, starting this year, I fell off the wagon due to my 3 year old being so sick, etc....I love the challenges and just need to get in gear.

I'm a BIG fan of "creative interpretation" of the challenges! For me that's part of the fun, interpreting the prompt into something that is album-friendly. But it's true that as I'm still working on an enormous backlog of pictures, I've been letting myself going all over the place with the photos, as opposed to sticking to chronology. That certainly would make it trickier!

Yay--it's up early! Off to check it out and pick the rows that I'm going to challenge myself to finish.

ETA: I love this month's card! At least for me, these are the kind of challenges that I can easily make work with the photos I want to scrap rather than having to make pages to complete a challenge. I'll still never manage a blackout, but I'm upping my goal and will try to finish half the card.

April's card looks better than last month's which I, too, for some reason "didn't feel", to say the least, and knew right from the start that I wouldn't complete it.

I didn't do well on February's card but bounced back with March. Have two done for April already hoping I can get a black out again this month.

I'm going for a blackout this month - and fingers crossed i win something lol every month i eagerly check the winners thread but never make it there

I usually don't have too much trouble coming up with pages to fit the challenges because i have such a huge backlog of scrapbooking to get through. Not because i don't scrap enough, i just take way too many photos
