Alpha ?
When an entire alpha is one .png file, is there an faster way then cutting each letter out individually? Ya know.. cut the 'c', transfer to LO, undo, cut the next letter, transfer to LO, undo etc etc. *sigh* I love the kit i'm using but the alpha is killing me..

Kelly - take the time to just cut it once and save each letter as a .png? There are actions available to do it. But you can do it yourself, too, especially if it's an alpha you use again and again. I've done it with a little epoxy alpha I adore..I just did it myself.
But, I draw around the letter, ALT C, click on layout, ALT V, then go back to the alpha and just drag the box to the next letter instead of redrawing it. |

I usually just use the shortcuts. M for the rectangular Marqee, then V to move it to the LO. Makes it a lil easier.

Darcy that is a great idea.. thank you for the advice and help!
Col.. I'm horrible with shortcuts.. I wish I could remember them because I agree, it would make it easier

Ugh, I hate alphas that are all on one sheet. My only tip is to cut everything, then move all the letters to the LO at once. I find moving every letter individually takes longer.

I just do all the letters at once like say I was to want the word love I would copy the l, then the o, then the v, then the e. I would not move them until I got all the letters I want on my layout. Im sure there are easier ways. And when I want to deselct I just right click and make my next selection and use cntl+c to copy then cntl+L to paste a new layer. It is an extra step because of having to make the selection but that isnt to bad and I think it saves alot of room on your harddrive because I believe the one file takes up less space then individual letters and it doesnt slow my computer down as much when I am making a layout

I like them seperate. Sheets make me CRAZY. I'll make an exception for you though, Kristin, because I you.

If it's a long word I drag the whole sheet on to the page, copy/paste the letters I need, then delete the sheet layer.

LOL! See, this thread is exactly why I do both in my kits. I had a friend who insisted that no one wanted them on one sheet. So I just put both in there and you guys can delete the ones you don't want.

In DIP, if the letters were individual, you could actually select the ones you wanted and have them open up ON your page. It was heavenly.

Here's a thought...select each one and shift+ctrl+j for the alphas you use a lot...this will have each letter on a separate layer...if you have your move tool set to auto select a layer you can just grab and drag each layer directly from the sheet. Save as a PSD and use over and over again as needed...

I normally just select the letter with the marquee tool and then switch to the pointer and drag it into the LO. This way, you aren't "cutting" it out or putting it onto a new layer and you don't have to undo anything before moving on to the next one.

so many different ways to tackle the *dreaded* one page alpha (BTW it wasn't an SSD kit). Thanks for the help ladies!!
Personally, I prefer individual pngs.. I select what I want and drag them all over at one time.

Add me to the lazy. I like them all separated. But I don't mind using them all on one sheet, I love it when kits come with alphas! LOL
