I feel like the luckiest girl alive right now.



The reason I feel so lucky is this: I bought the Canon refurbished on eBay last February. So, still under warranty in theory but Canon HAS no warranty for refurbished cameras. The camera dealer warrantied it themselves for 90 days. It broke after about 8 months, in October. Stopped reading the memory card, a known issue with Rebels.

Since I knew I would have to pay out of pocket for repairs, and had heard an estimate of $200-$300, I put it off until after Christmas. I sent it in last week and guess what? They fixed it for FREE! They just treated it as a warranty issue even though they shouldn't have. I'm seriously happy! I am by no means an amateur photographer...I still don't even get out of auto. But I spent all that money on a camera and it takes beautiful photos even in auto...I missed it so much!

that is awesome! i bought mine new about 3 years ago. it has been, i assume, having trouble reading the card. sometimes when i go to upload pics, my computer can't seem to find any, and i noticed sometimes that the little light on the camera that blinks when it is busy, doesn't blink very long, like it stops reading the card. hopefully, it won't completely poop out on me; i dont have any other camera. guess i'll be calling Canon if it does. don't know how long the initial warranty is for. probably not 3 years, lol.

LOL No. Canon has a 1 year warranty on their cameras. That's why I just had to sell my broken 1 1/2 year old one for $60...I bought a Nikon instead of getting it repaired and it has a 2 year base warranty on it!

I've had my Canon rebel for 5 years and it's been DREAMY!

I contacted them to about getting it cleaned (inside and out)...they said I'd have to send it in to get an estimate and they tossed around the $200-$300 number then,too so I never did it. Maybe I should just send it in to see what they'd charge!!

thats awesome!! I find alot of companies right now are more willing to work with you. I called Nintendo about my sons DS and they are going to warranty it as well even though it was a few days out.

Woot! I bought mine at Best Buy and got their extended waurentee (umm, how do you spell that word?) because they told me it covered accidents with it,too. Then the girl suggested I allow my toddler to play with it near the stairs about the time the waurentee is up. lol Sounds like a good idea to me.

That's great, Lena! I had an issue with my P&S Canon about a month after the warranty expired, and they fixed it for me under warranty, too. Gotta love good customer service.
