Default Disneyland over Christmas Break?

We are looking at going to Disneyland over the Christmas break (likely the week after Christmas). Has anyone been there during this time? How are the crowds?

I can't say for Disneyland, but here in Florida that's a super busy week at Disney World. One of the busiest! I think it clears up to be the SLOWEST week on the first full week of January.

NYE is the most expensive night on property too

I'd wait and go like Jan2 if you could. Crowds die down drastically then

yeah, anytime kids every where are out of school, you can bet it's going to be packed.

disboards.com is the best place to ask questions and research too. So much info! They have a Disneyland section.

We just went on the Disney cruise and the cheapest week was the 3rd week in January, I looked at every time to find it. I suspect this week would also be slow at Disneyland/world. I would however love to see it at Christmas time. I bet its even more magical.

My BIL has gone during C'mas break and says it's awesome, but tons of crowds because of it. It would be worth it for the lights if you didn't have tiny kids I think

I've seen the lights before..went over Christmas 2011 and it was my fave trip ever (Disney world not land) IF you plan it right and take advantage of fast pass, wait time apps, and stuff like that you can have a great time even with the crowds

The week between Christmas and New Years is one of the busiest weeks of the year. If you can go before Christmas or after New Years (or even New Years Day) it'll be much better.

I haven't been over Christmas - but we went once down to DL for Thanksgiving - and it was crazy! I imagine it would be pretty similar that entire week. Definitely a magical time though! Good luck with your planning!

I think the first week of December is quiet - when the college kids have finals

Thanks for the info everyone. Sounds like it wouldn't be an ideal time for us.

I've been to Disneyland on Christmas week and Dec 31st, both days were packed like crazy, but we still had a lovely time. It's all about managing the time I guess. I heard if you're already bought your tickets online you can reserve your fast pass from home? Or is it just Walt Disney World? Not sure...

Would you consider Thanksgiving week? We just went in November from Mon-Wed before Thanksgiving. The crowds were not bad and it was still all decorated for Christmas. It really is so magical during the holidays.

We've also been during October when it's decorated for Halloween. That was pretty cool, too and the crowds were minimal.

I'd LOVE to go during Christmas. I've never been during the holidays and I've heard it's just magical. When we went to DisneyWorld during Spring Break many years ago, people told us it would be crazy and not to go during that time. Well, we had a fabulous time! I just planned a lot since I knew it would be busy. I used a planning guide and never had the crazy waits that other people had during the exact same time. Have fun planning your vacation!!

I was going to surprise my kids a year or two ago on Christmas Day and I was directed to a website that said Christmas Eve to New Year's Day is truly the busiest time to go... If you can avoid those days go. Sounds like those are your dates... Bummer!

Thanks for all the tips. We don't have any dates selected yet. All options are still on the table. I'm thinking we might just pull the kids out of school for a couple of days and go early November or early December, maybe even wait until mid-Jan, but I'd really like to see it done up for Christmas.

Next time we go, that's what I want to do. We've gone in February twice & it was nice. Not too busy.
