Default Photoshop vs. Photoshop Elements, is it very similar?

Hi everyone, I am wondering how similar Photoshop Elements is to Photoshop? I am using a very old version of Photoshop, CS2, but now it has stopped working, it tells me it cannot be registered even though I purchased it legitimately. I'm guessing they're trying to move people over to the subscription model. I don't need another monthly charge, so I'm thinking of moving over to Elements since it seems like that program is still able to be purchased outright.

Is it very similar to work with? What are some of the major differences? Any help/input would be appreciated!

PSE is all I have used for forever. I do upgrade every 3-4 years to the newest version because they keep adding more and more features to PSE as time goes on. I think it's FANTASTIC software and like you, I prefer paying once and owning it to the monthly charge for CC. I just don't NEED more than what PSE offers and PSE is always what I recommend when scrappers who are new to digi ask me what software to use.

You can often find it on sale and there's usually a free trial too, so you can play with the features before you commit, but I suspect it will do all you need it to and that you will love it <3

I have PSE 2021 and I love it! Like Robin, I don't want to pay a monthly subscription so it's perfect for me.

Me too. I have 2020, and it gets the job done.

Thanks so much for the feedback ladies!!! I've only ever used Photoshop, and I'm a bit miffed that I can't continue using it. I'm glad that Elements is getting the job done for everyone that chimed in. With that, I'm off to go buy it tomorrow. I haven't scrapped much this year at all, and I've finally got the itch back and need to get some pages done!
