Default Cake ball recipes?

You mean to tell me that no one has started a thread this season about this? I really want to try making these this year so hit me with your best recipes and instructions since I haven't made them before. Thanks!

We're doing lollicakes this year -- cake balls on a lollipop stick. They're just cuter presentation wise. My teen daughter is going to make them to get her friends and I'll give all my coworkers one. I think. Gotta figure out exactly how many coworkers I have.

I'm planning to do chocolate/chocolate, red velvet cake/cream cheese frosting, and oreo balls (crushed oreos mixed with cream cheese). I may do christmas funfetti, too, but I'm not sure it will matter once turned into cake balls.

Open to ideas... I think we're going with aqua and red for the candy melt colors and then I have a ton of sprinkles!

I did cake pops for a friend's baby shower last summer (2009) and followed the instructions on Bakerella's site. They're not hard to make, just labor-intensive. If you have a fondue bowl or pot or mini crock-pot, that helps keep the candy melts/chocolates/whatever coating melted so you can easily coat the balls.

Pick up a styrofoam block to hold your sticks - I didn't have one and had to improvise, and it was kind of a pain.

As for recipes - I just used a basic yellow cake mix and cream cheese frosting and then white candy melts sprinkled with blue sugar.

kinda messy but oh soooo yummmy!!! I gave some to the neighbors last year and the husband just asked me if I was gonna make them again this year...probably...but will deffo have the mini-crock out to keep the chocolates from cooling too quick..I would also suggest some sort of rubber gloves if mixing by hand (which we did) cuz we found red velvet cake in the funniest places for days.

The oreo ones are a MUST! I made them for my cousin's bridal shower and we couldn't get enough of them!

I love making these! I used the yellow/vanilla combo with milk chocolate and they were pretty tasty. I know we will have those again this year. But I found some Cookie Dough Truffles and I really want to make these. No eggs in them so they are good to go. Plus I found a couple other "on a stick" things I want to make...hot chocolate, s'mores, and one other that is lost right now.
