Question for the Hybrid Gals!
Ok, ladies, I'm going to start slowly building my hybrid tools collection so, tell me what you just HAVE to have.... On my list so far is, some good scissors, prolly cutterbees, also a paper cutter, also prolly cutterbee, some hod podge, which, I need to know what kind you guys use, . I picked up an eyelet setter today, have a cutting mat and rotary cutter. So, what else is there? I'm not looking to spend a ton of money on stuff just yet, it's going to be a matter of spending 10 bucks a week or so...

My must haves are:
glue dots, craft knife & glass cutting mat, prima flowers, cats eye chalk ink, buttons, and adhesive (alot of girls like the xyron cheetah, however I'm loving the glue glider pro from gluearts.com). I also love my crop-a-dile & bind-it-all, but they are more expensive. And yes, I have cutterbee scissors, they are great

julie hit most of everything on my "must have" list. For my eyelet setter and hole puncher I use a crop a dile, but I also have the Making Memories setter as well.

Hybrid stash
Hi....
Okay, this is where it may become obvious that I am a bit of a newbie to forum posting and a total shopaholic... To be honest, alot of the 'stash' that I've built up over the years I haven't used! (hope my DH never sees this!).... I completely agree and think that the main cutting and sticking tools are the most important - oh and a printer I guess! - tee hee... But I also find that I use LOTS and LOTS of 3d foam tape/pads or silicone glue - to give the raised decoupage look? and also inkpads for 'edging' my cutout bits and pieces... Mod Podge - lovely stuff - but I don't use it that often.... I am soft touch for pretty things - buttons, ribbon, prima flowers etc - but really I guess they are not essentials are they..... well they are my essentials I suppose..... and I'm slipping into shopaholic mode now so I'll be quiet! Great post - can't wait to see what other folks say too...x.... |

I would also say the colorbox cats eyes chalk inks for edging, a black pen for adding doodles and faux stitching, metal ruler and a craft knife.
I wouldn't go mad on the embellishments just buy as you need or you just might end up witha pile of stuff (although very pretty) that you just never use - there lies experience Buttons, ric rac, ribbons and flowers are my embellishments of choice. I would also think about what kind of projects you want to make. If you think you might want to make some cards you'll need cardstock. Here in the UK we have shop where you can fill a box for a set cost, it's a cheap way to come home with a range of colours. I'm sure the US might have something similar. |

I like something for bling to fancy up my projects (like in the middle of my flowers), so I'd get a pack of adhesive rhinestones... you can get them on sheets and they have various sizes in the package! I have way too many, lol!

Personally, I'd suggest purchasing some sort of cutter/trimmer and a good pair of scissors, like cutterbee. After that find a project you are interested in and go from there. I've found that is the best way to build my stash. Why buy any embellishments until you need them.. they might be the wrong color, size, etc. Stick with the basics. Even things such as adhesive might change depending on the project you have in mind.
Just my 2 cents. |

The other girls have hit most of it, but my essentials are definitely 3-D adhesive (I use dimensionals from Stampin' Up), ribbon, and my hobby blade and cutting mat. I also REALLY love my straight-edge. I use one of those large acrylic ruler things intended for quilting.

Thanks girls!! I got my new scissors and paper cutter. My first project is gonna be a card and diaper cake for my SIL. I was already supposed to make the diaper cake and was gonna use paper scraps but, none fit so, here I am!! LOL I have a few adhesives, some dots, a tape runner and of course, glue! I think next week, I pick up some flowers, if I can ever find a variety pack!!
