Default DSLR Camera bags?

For those who have DSLR camera's what type of bag do you use?

I have just this blah black bag, that I honestly don't think is even meant for a DSLR camera. I am looking for one to ask for, for xmas and need some help. I am open to any suggestions whether it's handmade or maybe one of the "crumblers". But I need help! LOL

ETA: I also wanted to add that I'm looking for one I can carry my camera with an extra lens or two, and also flash.

I've been looking on Etsy too Corey...there are some really nice ones on there. I'm just afraid of getting one and not fitting what I need to in there. (camera, 1-2 extra lenses and flash). I have a backpack type bag I bought 3 yrs ago when I first got my camera but that is just waaay to big. LOL It's huge and too bulky.

I have this bag! this is my favorite "every day" bag! It's got great pockets & the sections inside (for lens, flash ,etc.) you can move around to make everything fit how you want it! I get SO many compliments on this bag & noone thinks it's a camera bag at all!

I have the Crumpler 5 million dollar bag. I can fit in my DSLR (with a lens on) plus an extra lens and my flash... and it is stuffed. I love the padding on my Crumpler and I feel the camera is really secure. But I long for a "pretty" bag though. I think I might cut off the top flap of my crumper and put it inside a large purse. LOL Oh, and a warning, the purple crumpler isn't a pretty shade of purple.

I'm planning on ordering this one in the next few weeks hopefully (my Christmas present to myself lol), I just need to decide on fabrics! I have my camera body, three lenses, external flash & misc. accessories and I think it'll have plenty of room for that & more (there are add'l photos on her site)

That is great to know Julie! Thanks ... the Crumplers are such nice bags. Part of me wants a "pretty" bag too. LOL

Deb...that such a neat bag! especially with it looking like a purse!! Can I ask a HUUUGE favor. *bats lashes* There are no pics on the Best Buy sight of the inside of that bag. I tried looking around other sites to see if I could find one and haven't come across one yet. Would you be able to take a pic of the inside of your bag?

I have the Crumpler 5 million dollar bag too (mine's red). It works great for me but I agree it can be a tight squeeze to fit everything in there. If I only take my camera with a lens attached to it, then I can fit both a water bottle and my wallet in the other pockets. But if I take more than one lens, it's a tight fit to put much else in there. It might fit two lenses (one on the camera and one off) and a flash if that was ALL you put in the bag.

Here's a photo I took awhile back of what it looks like to give you an idea. That's my Rebel XT in there. It's a rather terrible photo but there's two side areas and one area in the middle. The sides are bigger than they look in the photo but probably not big enough for what you mentioned you were looking for.

This is the shoppe where I got mine at. I bought the biggest one, it is large, but its nice because I still have room for a sippy cup, snacks and diapers, as well as my video camera, lenses and regular camera, but it gets heavy.

Yes please Deb!! Also, how long are the handles? Like, can you put it on your shoulder or not?

This one is pretty similar to mine, I think she changed the design a bit. There are 3 pockets on the outside too, that I keep my cards, manual and battery charger in.

I have the Crumpler Stamp Claimer bag I got on eBay. It`s really sturdy and holds exactly what I have, but if I get another lens or something, I`ll have to go to something bigger. I have a Crumpler purse too and it`s my FAV!

ooh, okay this isn't a camera bag, but I just found some inserts to make a regular purse/backpack/messenger bag into a nice padded camera bag-

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?ur...insert&x=0&y=0

something to think about!

The handles are definitely long enough to carry on your shoulder! That is a must when it comes to bags for me! lol When it's on my shoulder, the bottom of the bag hits my hip bone.

Oh! & the movable dividers, the tops of them fold down, so if you wanted to carry your wallet, phone, gum, whatever, it can easily just lay on top. & you can see on the right side, that that "section", where I keep my filters, charger & stuff, isn't all the way to the end, I have other stuff on the side.

I have a Crumpler 5 million dollar home. I LOVE it. It's perfect for what I have- camera w/lens, 50mm lens, another bigger lens, and my flash.

I have the Crumpler 5 million too. I can't say I absolutely love it - it can get heavy and can be a little awkward because the nylon fabric is so stiff. However, its great that the fabric is water resistant and I've never felt like there was a lack of padding. It's also fairly unisex (I have brown & orange), so DH carries it a lot too.

I have to say that the purple LE with only one velcro and buckle area looks a little easier to handle. I frequently carry it unsecured - have the velcro covered up (its loud) and unbuckled. I guess my biggest issue is that I'd prefer a softer strap hanging across my neck/shoulder and girly parts.

I have the basic Nikon bag that came with the camera and I'm sooooo tired of looking at it, plus it's too small. Shootsac are supposed to be good but I wonder if they'll hold camera, 3 lenses, flash, etc... and daggone they are pricey! Never actually seen one in person. Anyone have shootsac?
I'm liking the Etsy ones that Nesser linked up to. Oh Santa...

I'm pretty sure the Shootsacs are for holding your lenses only, they're not meant to hold your camera body or store your gear. Basically they hold your extra lenses and accessories while you're taking photos. They are very cool looking, but WAY out of my price range!

You are fabulous Deb!! Thanks!! How much can you fit in there? Like my goal here is my rebel w/ the kit lens attached, and my zoom lens. Yes?

I have a Lowepro SlingShot 200 AW. I can carry my camera with lens attached (I only have my kit lens), but it has room for 1-2 more lenses in the bag as well, plus all my accessories (charger, memory cards, etc). I also have room to carry my wallet & keys in it. It easily becomes a "camera mount" by rotating it around off my shoulder, so I can use it as a tripod of sorts. If I need a bigger ones (to hold more lenses), I will defintely consider going with one again, since they make bigger ones too (can hold 5-6 lenses).

I have 2 bags, neither are pretty, but very functional and not expensive. My big one that fits everything is this one:

(I got it cheaper by buying it with my camera though)
And this one fits only my camera with lens on, but its great for taking along with me when I don't need everything:

You're welcome! I fit my camera w/kit lens attached, an extra lens, my chargers, 3 filters (in their cases), my point & shoot, and all the little accessories. So, you should definitely be able to fit those in their!

oooh, those do look great Susan! I wish they had a shouldar strap though. I can't imagine walking around all day holding a camera like that. I'd be setting it down everytime I took pics! That wouldn't be good. Hopefully they will come out with one with a crossbody strap!

Oh, I'm kind of jealous of all of these bags!

I have this one. It's a Tamrac Expedition 3. I like the backpack feature and it holds quite a bit, yet is still quite compact. Everything is very padded too.

I was totally thinking about these when this thread earlier but I could not remember where I saw them. They look so cool though. I'd definitely love a fancier looking camera bag for when I'm more dressed up.

I just have the standard black Nikon one...it holds the camera with a lens attached, my speedlight, and 3 other lens (or most of the time our P&S is in one of the compartments). I also keep the charger and extra batteries in the pockets!!

Hey that is my bag! I have that one (and it holds a ton!) that I use as my everyday bag. I also have the 5 mil crumpler that I use for when I really need the camera secure (that velcro is strong) and when the bag might get dirty. I do want a more formal type bag that will fit in at weddings and such.

I just found these camera bags by Mimi. I have a laptop bag from them and I've been really pleased with it. I'm not really into animal prints, but thought someone might be interested in seeing these.

I got that email too. I drooled and then shook myself back to reality and decided it was too rich for my blood. They look stunning!

Gorgeous, but out of my price range! Besides, they're not shipping until February.

I bought the one that was made for my camera because it really gives it the best protection ... but many times I just don't need to carry that much so I use one that I bought on the internet from a lady that made me a custom denim one (actually 2 of them)...but the one made for the camera gives it much more protection.
