I just tried Wen. I wish I could find it somewhere where it didn't cost a fortune. We got a trial deal for $9.95, but otherwise I think we calculated it at $30-45 a month. I loved it though. I have fine baby-type hair and everything seems to dry it out.
Alternatively, I use the THERAPPE shampoo from Nexxus (at Costco). Also, I just found a website where a woman just uses baking soda and water and swears by it. She also does an apple cider vinegar rinse. Might be worth a try.

I just use cheapy Sauve. I get compliments on how good my hair smells and I don't actually have any problems with it feeling greasy or being hard to style and I have baby fine hair. Go figure, cheap works for me.

I actually just went shampoo free about 2 weeks ago!!! A blog link I followed in ::THIS:: thread lead me too it and I'll never use shampoo again!!!
Here is the blog post ::HERE:: And as soon as my older kids are out of school for the summer (June 7th), I'm starting them shampoo free too (there is a "transition period" and I don't think my 13 year old would ever forgive me if I made her go to school during it!!! ) My hair has never been this manageable in my life!!!

I color my hair so I make sure I use a color shield shampoo, but it took me a while to find the right combination. I was using Biolage Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner, but it was making my hair too dry. So I switched to Redken Color Extend Shampoo and Conditioner, but that ended up making my hair too greasy (especially on the day I skipped washing). So I decided to mix and match and found that the Biolage Shampoo and the Redken Conditioner was the right combination.

If you aren't feeling clean-and your hair feels like product is in it after you blow dry-you need a clarifying shampoo twice a week. This happened to me after I stopped nursing. My hair just got greasier and greasier, no matter what shampoo I used or how often. It was so gross. I lived in ponytails not knowing how to fix it! I use this now, twice a week. http://www.neutrogena.com/product/t-...ortby=ourPicks
Also-I never had a crusty scalp haha. Just major oil slick or something-gotta love those post pregnancy hormones.

I Love love love love love Big from Lush. It's pretty pricey, though. However, a little goes a long way, so even a small container will last you awhile. I say maybe a fingerfull a day is plenty.
I also really love Karma Komba, and it WILL last you a long time, if you store it in the metal tin (a worthy investment for the money it will save by keeping your shampoo from melting). I know the solid shampoo thing seems a little weird, but all you do is lather it up in your hands like bar soap, and rub it into your hair. Conversely, you could rub the bar directly against your hair, then use your hands to lather. Works just as well. I was a bit weirded out by the idea of solid shampoo, but I got a sample once, tried it, and it was one of the most amazing shampoos I've ever tried. I've tried several of Lush's solid shampoos, but keep going back to Karma Komba. It's especially great for traveling, since it's solid, and you don't have to worry about quantity or spillage.

i love, love, love the repairing shampoo by L'Occitane. My hair isn't even damaged, but the essential oils in this shampoo make my hair so soft! I love it. worth ever penny! (gotta get the conditioner, too!)

Another shampoo-free gal. I use a mixture of baking soda and brown sugar to scrub my scalp, and then apple cider vinegar/water and a little honey for conditioner. My hair loves it.

I use Keratase. I have fine hair, really fine, and it needs a boost. I also use their root booster before I blow dry.
Before that, I used Redken, which I'm contemplating going back to. I'm going to ask my stylist on Thursday. After I switched to salon products, I don't think I'll ever go back to anything else as long as I can afford it LOL. With my hair, there was a HUGE difference between anything I tried that I bought at the store and the salon stuff.

I don't shampoo either. A warning about going no-poo is to make sure that none of your other products have silicones in them. I just wash my hair with Suave Naturals Conditioner (I love the Aloe Waterlily!) which has some mild cleansers in it. My hair is amazingly manageable compared to when I would shampoo and use silicones (the harsh drying ingredients in shampoos are sulfates, which you need to get rid of silicones)! If you ever need anything more (which I have about twice in the past year) baking soda and vinegar are great natural cleansers, or lemon/lime juice.
I do a conditioner wash because my curly hair needs it (oil is NOT a problem for me), so if you don't need the additional moisture do the rinses like the other ladies have linked to.

I use Aussie products in the purple bottles. My hair is thick and while I think I could possibly do no shampoo I know I would need some sort of conditioner. I cannot brush it after getting it wet without a conditioner.

Me too. That or Pantene.
I'm really struggling with my hair lately. I feel like it's changing. I have sooo much of it and the texture varies. But lately it feels fried. Yes I color my hair on a regular basis, but it's never felt like this before. Products that I've used for years are no longer working? It's weird. Tell me...why go no-poo and still color? I will never give up coloring my hair, but I could possibly do no-poo. lol |

I think I'm definitely going to try the no-poo route. My hair is quite fine and right now it is long. I would love to be able to have it clean without weighing it down. Thanks for the links and info gals.
And, Kristin - right now, I use Biolage. It's one of the few shampoos that keeps my hair from getting a lot of static in the winter.

I'm with hair issues. My scalp is extremely oily (never was before) and my hair is falling out excessively. My dermatologist gave me a special shampoo and some medicine to take (vitamins and minerals). We both think that's b/c the 'Brazilian blow-out' I did last December. Both shampoo and medicine are working fine and with a good result, but I guess going no-'poo will give my scalp a chance to heal itself. And faster! Thanks, girls!!

I currently use Aussie products. My hair is REALLY dry, super thick and coarse so I need LOTS of conditioner just to comb through it!!!
I LOVE Bed Head products (I used the green stuff) but it's soooo expensive and also used Citri-Shine for a while and liked that too.

I think I may try too. My hair is falling out drastically and I'm convinced it is because of shampoos. I never even knew there was this option! Thanks!!

I use the Costco(Kirkland) Professional formula. It's paraben and sulfate free. I have always been a shampoo snob and spent $25+ on shampoo. But a friend convinced me to try the Kirkland and I love it. My hair is soft and manageable, and it is only $7 or $8 for a big bottle. The one complaint I have heard about it, is that the scent is strong, but I like it.
