Do you keep your jpeg files?
Once you've printed your layouts do you keep your jpeg files? If so, why? I was thinking that maybe I can delete them once they're printed but I'm such a wimp when it comes to the delete button...

If they are printed out I put them on a DVD and then delete them from my hard drive.

I burn mine off on to a disk with the psd's. I keep everything that needs to be printed together and then once it's printed it all gets burned off to a disk. I'm a wimp about deleting, but at least I don't let it clutter up my hard drive.

I know I'm in the minority, but it's the layered files I delete after I've printed. During my first 2 years I saved them on disc, but I never went back and used them. Now I print, wait a few days in case I notice a mistake or want to make a change, and then delete.
The one advantage to jpgs is that they're so widely compatible. That may make no difference right now, but if you need to reprint a file 10 or 20 years from now it could matter.

NOOOOOOO never, LOL, I have 4 back up copies of all my layouts. I do delete the PSD file, but only because I'd go back and change a million times if I didn't, so I make sure to edit them completely (and get someone else to proofread also) and then delete them. I'm so scared that something is going to fail or fire will destroy the printed layouts. I even have mine backed up online with www.fotki.com. I lost a few pictures one time when a cd failed and I've been paranoid ever since. I've also heard too many horror stories about failed HD's also.

Once they're printed, I burn them to DVD and delete from my HD. And just in case that isn't enough, I do store them online in my scrapbookpictures.com albums. I upload them there for printing, so being able to keep them there is a nice bonus.

I upload all my full sized layouts to my gmail account. Then I keep my web sized layouts in a folder. I have deleted some of my older ones that I don't care to look at anymore. Lol

I'm with everyone else, I save the jpgs and delete the layered file once I print. I hope to print all the jpgs in books someday to give to my kids when they turne 18...or get married...etc. Definitely need the jpgs for that!

I never save the PSD!! I save the jpgs at full resolution and web resolution and then I burn them to Disc. But I'm thinking I might start storing them on my server as well!!

I upload my layouts to my Fotki site once I make them and copy them to my EHD. Once I print them I delete the PSD, but always save the JPG.

Replace "Fotki" with "Flickr" and that's exactly what I do too.

I delete the jpgs once they are printed but I keep the layered .psp version. My reasoning is that I never know what I am going to do with the layout - what size it will be printed, whether it will be a single page or part of a bound book. I don't print layouts often. Just because I have that layout at 12x12 in a big album doesn't mean I might not print it later at 3x3 in a brag book, or reprint a 6x6 page into a 8x8 bound book. I would rather resize the original .psp than the .jpg
I move the .psp files onto DVDs once the folder reaches 4GB and take them off the HD, but I always keep a copy for future printing needs. |

So far I've kept everything, LOL! I've been meaning to get my psd's resized and put up on shutterfly for an 8x8 book, I just keep forgetting. And I won't delete them until I do. So for now, I have the psd's, and a gallery size jpg. I upload all my gallery size LO's to photobucket. No real idea why though, lol.

I'm like Paula, I never save the .psd files, only the .jpg files, and I keep those forever, even if only on my backup drive. And those I keep a full resolution and the "web save" version as well. Of course I haven't printed many of my LOs - too lazy I guess, LOL.

I keep the .psd file. Once I print, I burn it to DVD, then delete it from my HD. I delete the .jpg on a random basis. Sometimes it's when I delete the original LO from my HD. My reasoning is like Stacey's. I never know what size I may want to print out in the future, so I'd rather have the layered file saved.

Once I've printed, I delete the layered tiff file and keep the full sized jpeg. I know if I've printed, I'm never going to go back and change the layout, so I see no reason keeping it. But i keep the .jpeg to store in case something were to ever happen to my books. We burn them to DVD to store with my inlaws so we have another copy somewhere.

I always keep my psd file and also my full size jpg. If I make any smaller jpgs for forums, my blog etc, I always delete them once I have finished with them. I know I can easily make a new jpg file if I only keep the psd....but I love having my jpg file for quick browsing
