Default So do you ever feel guilty...

when you call in sick to work and then start feeling better? Yesterday I felt horrible and when I woke up I still didn't feel well. After I took my shower I felt so weak I called in sick, again. That's two days in a row!

Now here it is 11:30 am and I am feeling a lot better and guilty. Maybe I should have just pushed through this morning and gone in. By now my day would have been half way over and I would be feeling fine. Instead I am sitting here feeling like a naughty school girls playing hooky.

Nah, if you had pushed yourself with an already weakened immune system you might have ended up much worse! Enjoy your "free" day since we all get so few of those and go back to work on Monday with renewed energy and spirit!

Yeah no. If you felt sick and now feel better, it's probably because you called out and rested. My daughter did this yesterday, lol! She was sick in the morning so I kept her home but by the time her brothers came home from school, she was cartwheeling all around the house!

Don't feel guilty! If you were sick and just now feeling better you're still contagious (depending on what you were sick with) and could have made other people sick and then they would have had a lousy weekend<3 So just look at it like you were being kind to your fellow co-workers

I'm a SAHM so I don't ever get to call in sick.

I'm sorry you are feeling better, even if you did call in sick.

Sounds like you made the right choice!

As for me, I can't call in sick. I work in a small retail shop and it's so hard to find someone to cover for me. I had to work through a fever and body aches a few weeks ago. Just barrel through it!

I think you made the right call! Even though you're feeling better now, sometimes it doesn't last. How many times have you or your kids started to feel better then gotten weak again or had a fever come back? I'm with Kristin-going in sick, or after just a few hours of feeling better, isn't a nice thing to do to your colleagues. In addition to the risk of them getting sick, you never know who might be caring for an older relative or someone with immune deficiencies who could end up seriously ill. *Steps off soapbox.* This just might be something I have strong opinions about!

I know what you're saying! I feel bad staying home even when I'm really sick.

Thanks Ladies. I know my co-workers told me yesterday to stay home if I wasn't feeling better, so I am sure they are glad I did. LOL

I totally get what Rachel was saying though. My sister and I share days, one off and one on, visiting my mom at the nursing home but I won't be going near her until I feel 100%. Mom is in end stage dementia and her health is very delicate, so we are careful about that for her and the other patients in her ward. It puts a lot on my sister going every day, and I feel bad about that, but it is better than getting everyone there sick.

I think I am past the worst of it -- my headache is not as bad and my stomach has settled way down -- but I am going to take it easy and try not to feel guilty for the rest of the weekend.

You need to take care of yourself! Never feel guilty for that.

Glad you're feeling better! I'm getting over the flu, and my DH has offered to drive my daughters all over the place today--something I normally do. I told him that I'm fine and can do it because I would feel totally guilty if he did. Don't know why--he's their father and wouldn't mind at all. I guess because I feel that it's my job, and it would be like me calling off work. LOL

I think you made the right choice. Staying home to take care of yourself will help you feel better more quickly.
My mom helps take care of my Grandpa who is 103. She has a sign on his front door that tells people if they are sick (even just a slight cough) to come back another time. A lot of people don't think about it (or don't have other options)... being sick and going to work, or out in public can really affect others.
