Default Kindle book sharing group?

Now that Kindle lets you loan some books for 14 days & you only need a person's regular email to send a link to them, I thought it might be neat to form a book sharing group.

We could each post a list of what books we have available to lend & people who want to borrow them could PM or email us their email addy & we could lend them the book.

To find out if a book you own can be lent out go to your Kindle library on Amazon & click on the + next to the book title, it will open up & show more detail. If I book can be shared it will have a Lend book button on it.

Anyone interested?

Stacey, I'd love to join. I have these 2 books for sure that can be loaned, but I'll look at others in my library:

Finger Lickin' Fifteen
Plum Spooky
(both by Janet Evanovich)

I'm in, it'd take me forever to list books available for lending(I've had mine for quite some time), but I'll at least try and get a list of authors up tomorrow.

I'm in! I have about 1,000 books on my kindle(99% were free), but I'll list the good ones.

These are still free if you want to just grab them rather than loan them.
The Big 5-OH!
The Sari Shop Widow
Always the Baker, Never the Bride

I'll come edit this post later with more books as I remember.

Edit: Seems like none of the paid ones I listed are good for loaning. I'll keep checking for more.

This would be awesome!

I've got some...

The Murderer's Daughters - Randy Susan Meyers

When the Devil Whistles - Rick Acker

Okay well I had to cut my list down, I didn't realize that not all books are lendable. So I guess, for now, I've got two. LOL

I've searched all over in my Amazon account and can't find where to check if a book can be lent out or not. I just have the Kindle app on my iPod; does that make a difference? Where do I find it?

Go to the Amazon website. Go to "My Account" in the upper right corner. Then scroll down to "manage my kindle" around the middle of the page on the left side. Once you are there, scroll down and you should see a list of purchased books. There is a plus sign by the book, click the plus sign. IF you can lend the book, there will be a button that says so to the right of the book picture. If you CAN NOT lend it, there will not be a button.

I hope that helps!!!!

Also, something I found out over the weekend when my sister and I were going to share books is that you can only lend it once? I am not sure if they are going to keep it that way but for now that is what it looks like. So, you wouldn't be able to share the same book several times. Just an FYI.

Not trying to hijack your thread, Miss Stacey... but if there are Nook owners who are interested in starting a little sharing club we can do it. I don't have a Kindle, but I ADORE my Nook.

Would prolly be easiest to start a little group on www.goodreads.com. I love that site! If anyone wants to befriend please feel free. I read almost entirely urban-fantasy, paranormal, and science fiction.

If there is enough interest in a group I will start one. I am in a few on goodreads and I really enjoy the book challenges each month ... along with discussing books with peeps that read the same type of books I do.

Amazon says the device doesn't matter.

Go to "your Account", scroll down to 'digital content' & click on 'manage your kindle'. Scroll down to 'your orders' which is a list of all the ebooks you have purchased. Each title has a + sign next to it, click on the +, if a book can be lent out it will have a button that says "Loan this book", if there is no button then the publishers have not allowed it to be shared.
About 20 of my nearly 50 books are loanable and there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to which are. None of the romances I bought are, most of the mysteries are, some of the non-fiction is but not most of the general fiction.

Okay, finally got it!

I have the following:
High Five (Stephanie Plum, No. 5)
Hard Eight (Stephanie Plum, No. 8)
To The Nines (Stephanie Plum, No. 9)
A Heart Like His (Beth Moore)
They Almost Always Come Home (Ruchti, Cynthia)

I guess that's all. Strange that some of my later Stephanie Plum books are "lendable" but not some of the earlier ones.

The publisher gets to dictate whether or not they are willing to have a book be loaned.

Mine
Redemption (Hearts of Stone) fun note - the author of this is one of my longtime friends! I met her 6ish years ago on a parenting site
Midnight Marriage: A Georgian Historical Romance (Roxton Series)
Heiress (Daughters of Fortune)
Meant to Be (The Saving Angels book 1)
The Ugly Duckling Debutante
Spell Bound (Hex Hall)
Demonglass (Hex Hall)
Catching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games)
Branded (Fall of Angels)
Ashford
Bloody Little Secrets (Book 1 of the Bloody Little Secrets Series)
Rabbits in the Garden this is one twisted book, lol
The Trouble With Spells (Of Witches and Warlocks #1)

I don't often buy books too much now, and a good chunk of the ones I have aren't available for loan, but those all are.

Oh man, I would love to be part of your group. Though I have way too many books to list. :/ I'll come back and edit in a bit with a list.
I could totally go for a group on Goodreads like Penny said. I stalk there and keep my lists straight over there.

This is an old thread-I don't know if anyone is maintaining a group right now, so anyone who wanted to could probably start a Goodreads group. I didn't realize it wasn't new until I saw Eva's post.
