Prayers & Positive Thoughts for My Mom Please

My mom learned yesterday that she needs to have emergency heart surgery Monday morning. A valve replacement & a double bypass. She'd known about the valve replacement, she had a pig valve put in 9 years ago & they'd been planning on replacing it in Feb or March. It was while she was getting some preliminary tests done for that yesterday that they discovered the other issues. The doctor won't let her leave the hospital to come up to the Cleveland Clinic where she had the first valve done. They found a doc in her area to do it & moved her to that hospital late last night. Apparently she is a really good candidate but she is 73 and this is her second open heart surgery so we're all a little worried for her.

Adding to the general stress of this is that 10 years ago my MIL also had to have emergency heart surgery on Christmas Eve 2001. She was also a good candidate but she passed away during it because her heart muscle was too damaged to sew back up, which they didn't learn until they had her open.

So DH & I are sorta freaked about it all. The only thing keeping me together is it seems not to be too 'emergency' since they are waiting until Monday rather than doing it today, whereas MIL's was 'emergency' enough they took her on Christmas Eve, less than 36 hours after admitting her.

Any prayer & positive thoughts for my mom & our family right now would be great appreciated. Thanks.

And remember...improvements in techniques, etc., have advanced so much, Stacey. Bypasses are almost passe' now LOL will definitely keep her in our prayers.

(and yes, it is a good thing that they haven't put her right into surgery).
