Adobe Bridge
I hear a lot of people say that they use it and I never have...tell me a little about it. I'm trying to figure out exactly what it is and what it does...I read a bit about it on the Adobe sight, but I want to hear from digi-scrappers that use it.

I don't use it because it always seems to slow everything down and then locks up my PS.

I just use it to select RAW files to tweak in Adobe Camera Raw. Other than that, I don't use it for anything.

I do the RAW thing too and that is all. In Windows 7, pretty much everything (even FONTS!!!) shows up as a thumbnail now so I don't tag and organize quite like I used to.

I hope it's okay that I chime in here. I haven't been around too long.
The thing that's really great about it is that it's awesome for batch processing if you shoot raw files. It was designed with the photographer in mind. You can select a bunch of your RAW files and adjust them (Exposure, White Balance, Curves, Saturation all of that stuff) then save them all out as jpgs in just a few steps. If you're not already shooting raw files though it probably isn't worth the memory it takes up to run it. Because I shoot most everything in raw it makes scrapping easier for me because I can find everything I want to scrap, make my adjustments and save them out as jpegs into a different folder for easy use later. I hope that helps!! |

well... i'm not using bridge to organize raw or pictures, but I use it to organize my digi stuff.. maybe it wasnt made for it, but I kinda like it. I'm trying out the cs5 trial, now, and they put a mini-bridge feature in it, so you can browse your stuff from a little tab inside of ps, and you don't have to use explorer or get out from ps.. you can even add more than one element at one time from bridge to the lo you're doing it.. and I love that!!

I've been a CS user since CS1, but I had never used Bridge until this past January when I started taking the LOM class and i seriously don't know how I've lived without it until then.
Right now I am using it for organizing my photos but with the addition of mini-bridge to PSCS5 I will definitely be using it to organize my digi-stash as well. I've not had any issues with it slowing down my machine at all and I love that I am able to make collections without having to actually move any files. I also like the fact that I do not have to have yet one more program on my machine for organizing since it comes with PS already. Mind you, I'm nowhere near finished organizing everything yet, but it has made scrapping so much easier for me. I used to spend hours looking for a photo, now it's as easy as opening bridge and selecting the keyword I am after and I have a them all in one place to look over and choose what I want. |
