Gymnastics in the Olympics
In case some of you aren't friends with me on Facebook or whatnot and didn't know it already, my cousin Jordyn Wieber will be competing in gymnastics for the USA! So be sure to cheer her on! K? Thanks.
  Also, McKayla Maroney is on the Gymnastics team and she's the niece of a close family friend! A small world it is! **ugh, it's supposed to say Gymnastics in the title of this, not Gymnastic. Doh** Last edited by tettletop20; 07-27-2012 at 12:00 PM.

Yay. I love having a personal connection to cheer on.
Also, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who messes up titles. Every time I post a thread, I seem to put a typo in my title. lol.

very cool!! Aly Raisman (another girl on the team) is from my town, so it's been fun seeing all the signs up for her and reading about her in the local paper (i've never met her myself) ...

Sooo cool to hear these connections! I am a MASSIVE gymnastics fan as I did it all through my childhood and coached through high school. This makes it all that more exciting for me.

I have a long history with USA gymnastics and international gym too. I have some pictures of me with the Russian girls from 1996 and 2000, who were my friends. Needless to say, gymnastics is my favorite. :-)

We will be cheering for sure!! My daughter is a huge fan. Twistars Gymnastics Club where Jordyn Wieber trains is only about 10 minutes from my house. We were so excited when someone local made the team!!

We live in southern Jackson County so I've seen a lot about her on the news in the past few months (Lansing is the closest major city with a TV station). I've always watched gymnastics in the Olympics since I was a little girl and dreamed of being one (too tall lol) and apparently my boys like it now, too, strangely enough. My youngest has just mastered the somersault, lol, and my oldest is determined to perfect his cartwheel. They are silly boys. My oldest is also really excited about watching the gymnasts. I have to check out the schedules and see when they are on but of course since she's from the area, we will be rooting for her.

It just started right now in California and I have been trying to avoid any spoilers about it since I know the results are in. How cool she is your cousin....so love her and am going to be cheering the girls on tonight!!
