Check out my final project
Okay, so for my final project in one of my classes, my professor gave us a very vague assignment. She told us to take an inspiration piece (could be anything-- song, movie, photograph, sculpture, literally anything) and base our project off of it (our project could also be anything- food, a painting, a film, anything). For example, one person used a movie as his inspiration and made a cake based off of it. One person took a photo of a homeless person and made a film. Well, my professor had seen my scrapbooking because it's hung up in the halls of the school (based on other projects I've used scrapping for). She said that she'd like to see me do the final project by scrapping! (Um, dream project much?)
My inspiration piece was this sign I snapped a photo of about a year ago: And my project is as follows: We also had to write a paper explaining 5 ways our final project was inspired by our inspiration piece. My 5 ways were: 1. The concept of being a "tourist in my own town" and seeing the world through the lens of someone who had never visited that area before. 2. The color from the sign (the green and white). 3. The sans serif font. 4. The use of curves and straight lines, and contrasting the two together. 5. The location (the sign was located in the same city the rest of my photographs came from). I used Meghan's AMAZING kit Day By Day, which matched my colour scheme REALLY well, and I also used a bunch of Cindy templates, because she is the QUEEN of Curves+Lines.

I was SO thrilled that she not only let me scrap, but actually ENCOURAGED me to. She said that this project was supposed to be an extension of ourselves, and since it was a gen. ed. course, she wanted us to do something that was meaningful to us. She said encouraging us to do it a specific way would stifle our creativity, and what meant something to a culinary major might have meant nothing to an interior design major. One of the guys in our class is a cake decorator, so he is making a cake for his final project. One of the girls does fashion design on the side (our school only teaches marketing, not design), so she is designing a line of doll clothing and creating that for the class.
It was nice to have us each do a project that was very meaningful to us specifically, and it also helped because I *finally* got these photos scrapped!
