The weather is absolutely crazy, my dear friend is already flooded in, and Ive heard they are evacuating Brisbane . .

I am starting to freak out - I dont know if you guys heard about the floods a year ago, but it was so terrible . . so many deaths, the awesome ferocity of mother nature as she just ripped through towns with water . . it was so hard to live through and we were relatively safe ourselves.

Please, please send us prayers!!

Gosh guys - sorry!! I posted on FB this morning cos people were worried but didn't think to check in here... Thanks so much for all your thoughts & prayers - I appreciate that you were all thinking of us!!

Everything is fine - the weather warnings were mainly for the north side of Brisbane (I'm West Side) - and the areas that are flooding are ones that would usually get flash flooding in heavy rain. (There are some places in Brisbane that just always get flooded - my whole life, that's how it's been). Completely different situation than last year - when we flooded we had had 6 weeks solid of heavy rain and the dams overflowed because they got to 200% capacity. The dams are only 75% full atm, so we are safe(from that type of flooding) for now.

It still freaks me out though - I hate the rain. The worst part of it all is the stress. And the media is totally over-sensationalising it because of last year. They may be evacuating PARTS of Brisbane which are prone to FLASH flooding from heavy rain (it's a big place LOL) - but if they are evacuating all of Brisbane, it's the first I know of it... If you click on the link in the OP, the warning has been withdrawn.

Zoe I'm so glad it wasnt too bad for you - we have had 'manageable' flooding in my area, but not damaging at this stage . . there is still severe weather warnings for my area and flood warning current for our river.

There has been more rainfall down where it feeds the Mary but at this stage it is rising slowly, not at a rate of knots like last year. Thank goodness, it may peak at only half the height of last year, as long as the rain goes away!!!

Sorry if I panicked anyone - I was in quite a state when I started the thread. Of course only parts of Brissy were evacutated - sorry, I should have been a bit clearer about that!! Ugh. I feel really bad that I may have freaked people out
