Default Wii repairs?

Have any of you guys ever had to send your Wii console back to Nintendo for repairs? We've been getting a disc error message lately on all of our discs. It's like it can't read them. If we take it out and put it back in several times, it will eventually work, but it's a real pita. So, I've looked online, and the best I can figure is that we'll need to send the console in for repair.

I don't want to do it til after the kids go back to school since they can still play it SOME now. I'm just wondering how long it takes and what the cost is. We got it for Christmas last year, so it's exactly 1 year old.

Any thoughts?

My brother had to send his off for repairs. I'm not sure of specifics, but can get them. Just PM me and I can call him if you want.

My son had to sent his off and it was REALLY quick. I can't remember the details, but we were all surprised by how fast it was. Less than 2 weeks for sure. Sorry about your Wii loss.

I had to send ours back. Ours was overheating...it was very easy and quick process. If you have games downloaded you will be able to re-download them if they get erased. Heres the link to get you started

Yep, just talked to my bro and he said it was less than 2 weeks. His was still under warranty, so it was free.

I think my boys would panic if the Wii had to leave our house for however long! LOL
We do need to figure out what's going on with the Guitar Hero guitars though. They're very touchy on whether they'll actually work or not.

Here's to a speedy recovery for your Wii, Libby!

Thanks guys! I appreciate the info. What crappy timing. UGH.

I'm worried that we'll damage the games by continuing to try to play them, so I feel like I should just go ahead and get it sent in. On the other hand, I HATE that they won't be able to play their new games (another Guitar Hero game and Wii Fit). ugh ugh ugh

Thanks guys.

Our would not turn on for a whole week. Then we turned it off for a while, and just before we called Ninento, we tried once more, and now it is magically working! Weirdness. Let us know how it goes! I'm sorry this broke right before CHristmas! Do they break frequently?. We've only had ours two months, and it's our family Christmas presant this year. We're opening the 'accessories' we bought ourselves tonight! (mariokart, wheels, classic controlers, wii fit, um, and another game and control pieces I can't remember...and the recharger)

We sent ours back, about 3 months after we got it. They sent a label for shipping & it was gone about 2 weeks or so. we have also sent back a controller, it took about 3 weeks for some reason

Lindy, we've had ours a year, and this is the first time we've had any problem at all with it. I don't know how common it is really, but so far we've been pleased. The kids play it all the time, so maybe they just wore out something on the inside.

Glad to know that it's fairly easy to send back to them.

Yay for Nintendo!

I just called them, and they're sending me a FedEx label via email so that I can package it up and send it back out to them.

The GREAT news is that apparently I didn't register it when we got it (I swear I thought I did), so she registered it for me and put the purchase date as Christmas last year (I told her it was a Christmas gift). That gave me 1 day left on the warranty, so they'll fix it for free. And she said when it comes back, it will come with a new 1 year warranty.

She said it should only be gone 11-14 days.

My kids are bummed, but I'm just glad it can be fixed (and for free!)

I hope they get it back quickly! Mine would crack up without theirs, we also got it for Christmas last year and they play all the time.
