Default I'm beginning to hate debit cards.............

what a week, both my card and my DH's card have been compromised this week ARGH! $1000 taken from our account. Seriously, we are both so careful with them, espcecially since this is the 2ND time this has happened to me this year. Thank god the bank reimburses but probably not for 1-2 weeks grrrrr..........
Be careful where you are using your cards everyone!

Darn thieves!!!!!

That stinks and I'm sorry to hear that. Good to hear that your bank will give you the money back.

Have you used these cards online?

Man that bites...we've never had ours compromised but DH is terrible about misplacing his...twice he's left his in resturants and we've had to get new cards. The sad thing is that no matter how careful you are some thief can find a way to get your info.

A couple of years ago someone put one of those keystroke virus things on our computer and hacked my paypal acct..they stole 1800 dollars from our bank acct and it took nearly 3 months to get it straightened out. The terrible part was that the crook who tried to purchase a computer with our acct..his address and info came to MY email acct....we contacted the police, canceled the order before it was shipped etc. etc. but the money was still taken out immediately and we basically had to prove to paypal that we really hadn't made that purchase. THEN the cops said that since the thief actually never got his hands on the merchandise they couldn't do anything about it. It just makes you feel so violated when something like that happens.

That happened to me almost a month ago!!! It was a "company" from New Jersey. But my bank is stupid and I still don't have my new card.

Sorry Cindy!!! I hope it gets resolved quickly!

You'd have me to almost bury if that happened to me. I'm sure glad the bank will at least take care of it for you.

I don't know all the details.....
sometimes hidden cameras that can catch you typing in your PIN, double swiping your card, apparently some are even putting fake Keypads over the real ones to get the info....there's a whole bunch of ways, it really is horrible!

someone hacked into my parents' credit union computers. the credit union claims they didn't get to anyone's personal or banking information, but they changed everyone's account numbers, sent out new cards to every CU member & are providing 1 year of credit monitoring to all members at no cost. So... I think a lot of banks are just being really careful!

I only use the debit card when I am the one swiping it, ie at Walmart, etc. We use our other credit card at all restuarants and for online purchases for this very reason. Since it's my bank account I don't want someone taking my money! Sorry this happened to you AGAIN Cindy!

Ours was stolen online...they hacked our bank account online and stole our whole tax refund! Luckily dh noticed it when he did a withdrawal and asked me if I had paid off our credit cards with it (which we had discussed)....I hadn't and we ran to the bank immediately (about 15 minutes before they were due to close)....we were there quite awhile...but found out they had sent the money to etrade securities and were funneling funds that way. They were able to trace the IP Address to a foreign country...but the bank refunded our money to us on the very next business day.

I was looking over some things and we are missing about $40 (disappeared sometime between Wed. and Thurs). Neither of us can figure it out. We never keep over $50 in this particular account (it's for random spending) but still it's bothering me. I won't be able to see the transactions on the screen for a couple days. Keeping my fingers crossed here.
And Cindy I hope you get things straightened out, that's a lot of money to be out of.

The reason why they take just a small amount like 10 dollars is to sorta test thee account to see if it is good then they will put through a larger amount. My sister had several hundred dollars stolen from her account from an online site like paypal over the course of like six months
