So I have to ask - who do you think is having more fun with this project? The kids or you guys who are setting everything up? I can't get over how cute all the ideas are! So fun!

Yep, I may be considering stealing someone's young child just so I can have an excuse to play with the elf. These are all fabulous. You are making such fabulous memories and traditions with your kiddos. Love it!

lol... my 4yr gets the whole have to be good because the elf flies back to the north pole... but he doesn't buy that the elf is naughty... The other day I did the elf changed all the photos to his photo... and Jake said to daddy... "the elf came today, but I don't know why mama changed all the photos to the elfs?" Then the next day, the elf toilet papered Jake's christmas tree and put underwear, socks and ties on it... and Jake said to me, "mama, why did you put toilet paper on the tree?" As much as I tired to convinced him that I didn't do it... the elf did it... Jake is just not buying it!!

But I'm having fun!

LOL My kids are a little too old for this, but I love looking at this thread to see what the elves have done. I almost want to get one just for how fun it looks for ME.

I am totally having more fun than the kids I think lol..I mean the first thing they want to do in the mornings is find him and they really love all of his little adventures but I am having a blast with it this year lol.

Ella is still a little clueless about the whole Elf/Santa thing b/c she's only 3 but Avery at 6 is a total believer and I'm so glad..I know I probably only have a couple more short years that he really believes and I want to just bottle it up and save it.

I'm pretty sure I am LOL! L.J. loves it and wants to see what he does every day, but I secretly think he knows it's me. Oh well...as long as he plays along I get to have fun too

Ours Post-It Noted the playroom today.

I'm totally having as much fun as they are! What has surprised me is how many ideas I come up with on the fly. I totally thought I'd plan every one out based on an internet idea but that hasn't been the case

This morning he had a message for L.J. on his last day at school before Christmas break.

Today he heard the Chipmunk movie is in theaters so he thought he'd parade them around the living room for all the other toys to see.

Catching up on scrapping and posting today.

Dec 5 - Visiting with a friend.

Dec 6 - Caught Christopher peeking at unwrapped gifts.

Dec 7 - Christopher found an elf sized breakfast.

Dec 8 - Christopher thinks that these look like the apples Mrs. Claus uses in her apple pies.

Dec 9 - Christopher found my label maker and decided to print Merry Christmas labels.

Dec 10 - Christopher heard that we went to the movie theater to see Arthur Christmas today. He is a little homesick.

Dec 11 - Inspecting wrapped presents

Dec 12 - Silly elf! Christopher was upside down on the chandelier this morning.

Dec 13 - Christopher looking for bananas.

Dec 14 - Christopher playing with the Charlie Brown snow globe.

Dec 15 - Watching a Charlie Brown Christmas.

Dec 16 - Pizza Night! Christopher enjoyed an elf sized slice (gluten free, of course) with mini pepperonis.

Dec 17 - Christopher following bird tracks in the snow. I brought him inside because it is too cold to stay outside all day.

Dec 18 - Christopher spinning on the Cat in the Hat ball toy. Careful Christopher!

I decided at the last minute to do it (I figured better late than never). I'm SO glad I did!! Since I have less days - I've been doing my fave set-ups, so these are copies of what y'all have already done Thank you SO much for the great ideas!!!

Day 1: Our elf arrives He is eventually named Burkey (well - he has two names: Brian & Burkey, but Burkey is my fave, so online I refer to him as that, lol.)

Day 2: Burkey TP'd the tree. The kids got a kick out of this!

Up close of the TPing elf

Day 3: Burkey barricaded the boys in their side of the house. Liam kept scolding Burkey, telling him he was being very naughty and had to be better, lol. Connor got to run through it at the end of the day

Burkey decided to just have fun and play with some legos. He made a couple houses and then ended up getting stuck inside the last house, lol. He's been trapped there all day

L.J. set this up yesterday...the note says "Fire Mom and L.J.". He tore up little bits of orange paper and taped them to the container with the "coal" (fishing weights) underneath. I always hoped he'd get some of my creativity

This morning he left clues around the house leading L.J. to the pantry where he had a Skittles surprise for him.

Skippy thinks something is very funny, wonder what it is. Keira is confused as to why he has all of our stockings.

Skippy has replaced our stockings with underwear, LOL! You guys get the picture, you don't need to see mine or Sean's underwear do you? LOL!

Burkey got into the TP again, but this time just left a message instead of putting it all over the tree, lol. The kids also got a message from Santa say they were on the nice list (via the Portable North Pole site)

And tonight I decided to give the red paint a try. Every night I felt they were too freshly asleep to get their noses painted. Tonight I was up a little later than normal (almost forgot to do something with Burkey, lol) and I decided to do it! It went great (I warmed up the paint in the microwave - I think that helped). I even painted hubby's nose and my nose, lol

Oh and the "Look outside" part is cuz we got snow after everyone fell asleep

Just a couple inches so far. It was supposed to be gone by tomorrow, but now it's saying it will snow more tomorrow and stay till Sunday (YAY!) We're in the southern part - there's been a blizzard going on in the northern part all week I guess. It's insane (but normal - I've done Christmas in Farminton, NM (by the 4 corners area) and we had snow the whole time).

I think I'm painting their noses tonight as they weren't asleep and almost caught me last night. I think he'll write a goodbye letter too... wish I had a good idea for his last hurray.

For our last night Buddy brought the kids a goodbye letter and a box of Reindeer Food to sprinkle outside so Santa's reindeer can find our house . Here's what the note says:

Reindeer Food
Sprinkle this Reindeer Food outside tonight
The moonlight will make it sparkle bright
As the Reindeer fly and roam
It will guide them to your home

I put oatmeal and some red/green sprinkles in it...Avery was completely fascinated and is so excited to sprinkle it outside tonight lol

I hope the paint stays on for you!! I've seen it work for others, but I guess my boys move too much, lol. It was off almost completely by morning. I painted hubby's nose & my nose too - and only my nose was still red, lol. They still laughed about it though, but I was bummed it wasn't on better
