Default Fess up, scrappers! :)

Saw this on fb and it made me chuckle... how often do you stage photos? I must admit that I do it from time to time.... or at least make my boys hold poses for a ridiculous amount of time trying to get them all looking "just right"!

GUILTY! However, I don't ALWAYS stage things. But when I have a story to tell and want a picture to go with it, I will sometimes set something up (as best as I can...my kiddos don't cooperate so much always). What I DO do a lot, is try to put them in clothes that match a kit I may want to use. I am totally guilty of that, a lot.

This usually only happens for me with Birthday cake pictures. I can never seem to get the right candle blowing out picture so I have to relight and take them a few times. LOL

I'm a total stager! But: my husband makes the brunt of the photos I use, and he HATES staging photos, so most of our pics AREN'T staged... he is much more talented with the camera than I am.

Yeah, I often stage photos early, so I can be 'in the moment' when the event is happening. I'll take pictures of my kids with their cake before the birthday party, photos of my daughter dancing in her costume before the performance and I tend to take soccer action shots of my son while he is warming up for a game rather during the game. I still get photos here and there during the events, but I try to relax and soak in the moment without the camera when possible.

Hmm, I actually don't stage photos. I mean, I'll occasionally stop people in the middle of things to look up and smile (and I don't do that much either), but I don't recreate moments just to photograph. If I miss it, I miss it. I don't really see anything wrong with staging photos, but I doubt my family would cooperate!

I'm definitely guilty of dressing the kids with a scrapbook page in mind, but I don't stage photos. It's just too hard to get my family to cooperate for something like that.

LOVE this idea... and honestly have never thought of it, other than taking a pic of the bday cake before it gets cut. So often I have had to watch something through the lens of the camera rather than just taking the time to relax and enjoy it.... so I'm totally using your ideas!

I also like the idea of dressing my kids for a particular kit... hahaha. I can't say that I've ever done that... so as a result, I'm usually searching forever for a kit to match their clothes!

Ditto! DH even asks me what color to wear when he gets dressed for family events...

We totally take photos at dress rehearsals and pretend those are the photos from the actual event!

Not sure if it's staging... But like Misty, I'll take some pics before the event. I take some pics of daughter swimming in uniform at private practices and will ask her to swim a few extra laps afterwards just so I have the shots. I find that I get caught up in the moment and forget to take out the camera. Never thought of taking the party pics before hand, I like that idea. I dont like detracting from the moment to take the pic.

I don't really stage much. I don't try to recreate events or anything. I will stop my kids and ask for a picture now and then and then they pose, but I try to get more candid shots.
