Default s/o jenn barrette

so, how do you pronounce 'barrette?' the hair piece, not the uberly famous digidesigner.

i say 'bar/ett' (with the emphasis on the first syllable) but i know a lot of people say it all funky
i've heard 'buh/rett', as well as a few others. how do you say it?

I say it like Trish does. Either buh or bahhett. Emphasis on the bah syllable. I was born in Texas if that means anything.

buh rhett with a very slight emphasis on the second syllable. I grew up in Connecticut, but I also lived in New York and Massachusetts while I was learning to talk.

Oh I'm different (or maybe just lazy, lol). I mush it together and say brett (one syllable) lol. I think if I thought about it before saying it, I would say it burett, emphasis on the rett, but I'm trying really hard to remember, and I'm really sure I say brett (like the boy's name) lol

For me it is bar-ETTE - definitely second syllable emphasis, and definitely an R in the first syllable.

I was just thinking halfway through this thread that now it feels like barrette is some kind of made-up silly word...you know how that happens when you look at/think about a word for too long?

anyway, i THINK i normally say bahhett.
