Default Help me decide

Jacinda suggested that I do something easy and quick for my son's long-term sub who is moving away next Thursday. So here's my thing, I've resized down to 5x7. I can't decide which route to go....do I dress it up pretty like this?

Or should I go simple, more "flat" like this?

Which route should I go?

Since it is for a boy I think I would go for the 2th one.

But they both are beautiful. but the 2th is more for a boy I think

Both are pretty but I'd go with second one this time!

Ummm I really like the first (I'm probably going to lift some of it honestly) but boys don't have the same tastes, unfortunately

I personally like the themed clean look of #2 and it'd probably be faster for you too! :P

They are both nice! You can always mix it up! If the page features just your son or a simple theme, go for the 2nd one. If the page is mostly the teacher or some of the girls in the class, go the first route.

yeah, that's what I was thinking that it'd be easier and faster to scrap

Most of the photos will be from other parents and of activities. I don't have much for just my own kid as I've not been part of their parties and what not.

Secret option #3 might help you balance your desire to pretty it up with your need to do it quickly. Do the pocket style you have in #2, but add a couple of embellishments. (Not even clusters, just a few individual flowers or school-related elements that aren't flat.) Another thing I like to do to make a pocket page look more like a traditional page is to shrink the pocket part down a bit and put a patterned paper behind it, like this:

Unfortunately, that takes more effort with 5x7s than with square pages.

That's very beautiful, but if you know me well....pocket styles are my kryptonite. I stink with blocking, which is why I lean towards clusters a lot more!

Then maybe that's your answer! Even though option 2 is generally quicker and easier, maybe option 1 will be easier and more fun for you.

I like the 2nd one. Not sure if it's going to be for an item that could be displayed, but the neutral colors would make it easier to fit in with the decor if the teacher wanted to display it somewhere at some point.
