Default Advent Calendars...

do you use them? do you have a favorite?

my kids really love our Pottery Barn snowman, where you count down the days by moving a small musical ornament between pockets.

but they especially love the interactive ones we've done from Playmobil for the past few years. the forest animal versions are their favorite, as they adore all the tiny animals and really loved creating and moving the scene with each new box opened.

but this year I think we'll try this one from Lego along with an older version from a previous year, so that both my older boys [8 + 5] will each have their own scene to create.

We did Playmobil ones every year but last year we did a simple one I got at the Fresh Market with little milk chocolate inside... the kids liked that one better and it was so much cheaper! I noticed Barnes and Noble has them, too. They look like this:

We do Lego City calendar... and then I have a house with little doors that open. I didn't use the house last year - thinking of maybe using it this year with slips of activities or candy in them... advent calendars are by far, J's favorite things he does every year.

We have a wooden one with little ornaments that was my mother in laws. And then I will be getting Lego ones for the girls that our Elf will bring on December 1st. We usually only do one but they love it so much and are really into legos I think I will do two! Probably Star Wars and Lego Friends.

The Lego ones here are 45.00! The playmobil is twice that much here!!

We get a chocolate one for each child. Usually for DD Disney Princess and DS told me this year he just wants a "generic one". (he's 13.)

I saw the Lindt ones yesterday and thought I may get that one, but the kinder one isn't that expensive here and they'd love that too.

We have a wooden one with doors I bought at Target, I add the candy and activities for each day a head of time.

And we also have one that is made of felt that hangs on the wall that my MIL made for Sean and his sister when they were kids. That one you take an ornament out of a pocket and add it to the tree.

The Lego ones are $40 here, too. It's pricey, I know. The Playmobil one though was cheaper. I think I paid $25 last year. Funny that it's more for you.
