Default If you were making a playlist

Of iconic songs from movies, what would you include?

This morning on my way to work I was listening to some of the Pitch Perfect song track and realized I needed just a big movie playlist.

Tell me your favorites.

Immediately the Footloose, Grease, & Dirty Dancing soundtracks come to mind.

Kenny Loggins & Huey Lewis as well.

Editing the first post, here's what I've come up with. Thanks for all the input everyone! It keeps growing. Movie Songs

I love the soundtrack from Top Gun. And, a long time ago I found a CD of the songs from some of the James Bond movies. Some of the older ones are classics IMO.

One of my favorite movie soundtracks not already listed is from Begin Again. So good! Also love all of the Guardians of the Galaxy mixes.

Something from Hairspray and Into the Wild (because I love Eddie Vedder).

and IIIIIIII will alwayssss loooooveee youuuuuu! Whitney singing that about Kevin Costner will always give me goosebumps!

Glory of Love from Karate Kid II is a good one.

The entire Grease soundtrack, for sure.

Blaze of Glory for Young Guns 2. I can't help but sing as loud as I can no matter where I am when I hear it. It's like the whole outlaw spirit is embedded in that song.

Great suggestions everyone.

My husband and I had a great time searching through itunes last night trying to find things to add.

My rule was It had to trigger the actual scene from the movie for me or of course the movie itself.

We have 70 plus songs on our list and just shy of 5 hours of music so far.

The theme songs for the Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark movies, as John Williams is the composer - I LOVE John Williams' music mainly because there is such dynamic brass in it! Weird thing is that I am not a Star Wars fan except for the very first movie that came out in 1977. I'd also have the entire Sound of Music, Grease, Saturday Night Fever (I LOVE the Bee Gees, especially How Deep is Your Love), and Dirty Dancing soundtracks. I also love the theme songs for most of the James Bond movies.

I love a lot of the songs already mentioned. I thought of another one - it's ON my playlist and I heard it last night - "Two For The Road" an old movie starring Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney and I LOVE the soundtrack from "Breakfast At Tiffany's"- again starring Audrey.

Maybe I'll scrap a page of what we've ended up with, it would take me forever to type everything out.

I have some from really obscure movies, like The Legend of Billy Jean (anyone remember that one?). Love is a Battlefield is the song.

Eddie and the Cruisers, Shag the Movie, then of course Ferris Buller's Day off, Day-O from Beetle Juice, Rockafeller Skank & Kiss Me from She's all that.

Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, 50 First Dates each have a song. Anything that would make me or my husband call back a movie or specific scene from a movie is probably on there.

Edited, looks like I can share it. (I did skip some popular songs, like the Bodyguard, I love the movie, I don't know if I need to hear I will always love you ever again, LOL!). Movie Songs

What about Top Gun and Beverly Hills Cop? My mom used to have those on tape when I was a kid and I would listen to them including Dirty Dancing.

You spurred me to clean up my music files on my computer. Because of copying from several computers to one, they were a mess. I honestly didn't know what I have.

I had ripped CD's years ago and took the time to go through and figure out what songs were missing. I have a lot of "best of" CD's that I only ripped a few songs. Now my goal is to rip what is missing. I do have time to do it. And, possibly purchase some of the music that I used to have on cassettes and LP's that I always loved.

My goal is to copy everything to a thumb drive that I can use in my car. I don't do streaming music services. Tried and didn't like them.

It was a fun day yesterday and to be continued today!

I did that years ago. That's one of the reasons we use Apple Music, so I can still access any personal music and playlists I created way back.

All done!

Like I said, not a fan of any streaming service for music. I have a record player that has a USB hub so in the past I've put my thumb drive on there and just let it play. Prefer those speakers to the computer speakers for music.

I also do not have music on my phone. I can no longer use ear buds because of my hearing issues but I loved using my iPod when I would work out back in 2008 when my hearing wasn't so bad. I did try to sync my iPod today to get things updated and it won't sync on the new computer. I can connect it to the record player by blue tooth if I want or even my car. May have to boot the laptop and see if it will sync to it. If it does, I can copy my music files to it.
