Default Desktop IG loader for windows 10?

I'm so bummed. Since upgrading to windows 10 my IG desktop loader isn't working. Its too tedious to load my LOs thru my phone and I really loved doing it on my desktop but I can't get it to work anymore.

Anyone else on windows 10 have an IG loader that is working? I tried another one "later" I think it was called but I didn't like it.

I'll load some onto IG but not all of them anymore as it just becomes too much work on my phone. Ugh...another reason to be irritated with windows 10 (unless its IG itself that has gotten smarter about detecting desktop loaders and blocking them).

Any thoughts?

Cassie had recommended Later to me last year, but you have to go in to your phone and push it to post to your IG. Most of the time, I forgot to push it and I had heaps of them on my account. I have it on my phone, but I can't remember the last time I used it.

I forgot IG was a thing for Windows 10. I have Windows 10, but I've not done anything with it because I have all my hashtags saved on my phone with one push of the button, so I find it easier to do that there. Will have to check out my computer though

just spent 10 minutes over on youtube, watching a few videos about later.com and now I get it (I think LOL). I've scheduled a few LOs and I'll see if I get the notification and then will post them.

I know I tried later. com a long time ago and found it confusing but after watching a few videos, it seemed pretty straightforward and I think I set it up properly.

Whew....so hopefully I'll be back to desktop IG posting again...so much faster than trying to type it all into my phone. Fingers crossed

I have windows 10 & use the "Desktop for Instagram" extension in Chrome. It seems to work great- even tho I don't often post layouts on instagram yet... not really sure why!

Amie - I had desktop for IG before on my windows 7 and it worked fine but after a few tries with installing and uninstalling on windows 10 I gave up, it just won't work for me now.

Sara - I use Chrome.

Okay I just added the extension Rae. I use Windows 10 and I uploaded a layout from my desktop just fine.

for Chrome: log into IG as usual. Then click the three dots on the right-hand side (the "customize and control Google Chrome" button). Click MORE TOOLS and then DEVELOPER TOOLS. The page will now show the developer tools along the right side of your screen. Ignore that stuff lol. This is the important trick: DRAG AND DROP a lo onto IG's screen. [It should appear on a black background.] Then hit the BACK button. Now you should see the buttons available to you on your phone, like the Home button and the ADD button (the plus sign). Click the Add button and upload your page.

After you do it once, it'll be easy, I swear lol. I like to post my pages all at once, so using Later or another app/extension just doesn't work for me, but I know lots of people love it. Hopefully you find something that works for you!

Sara - didn't work. I got my LO dragged over onto IG page with black background but then it didn't do anything. By "back" you mean backspace key? Or left arrow key? I tried both but nothing happened.

Sorry Rae, I wasn't very clear! Hit Chrome's BACK button. Your page will "disappear" when the page reverts but you'll see along the bottom of the screen your typical IG buttons. Click the + and then add your page. I can make screenshots in a bit to help you out.

I was able to get to the mobile IG screen to show by using shortcut keys but the bottom IG buttons "like the plus sign to add" are all missing. I can see and manage all other functions like the profile etc that is up top of the mobile view but for some reason the bottom buttons are missing. I've tried a few times and nothing works.

That's so odd. Once I force the site (by drag/dropping my page onto the screen and then hitting Back), I have no problem. I wonder if there is a shortcut key for the Add button??? I've never thought of trying it that way.

I don't have a back key in chrome. I tried to add an extension to enable "backspace" key and that didn't work either, it said it was blocked. I have windows pro 10 and have nothing but problems with all kinds of security blocks and functions. It looks like it isn't going to work for me. I'm getting blocked no matter what I do.

Ok.....finally got it working. I had to go to my IG page then click Ctrl + I, then Ctrl + M and sometimes had to toggle that back and forth to make sure I had the mobile view (showing the phone shape like a long rectangle) and then I could drag and drop and the + sign would show. That was a long process of figuring out.

Thx Sara for your help....I think it will work now. I loaded a LO and it worked.

Hey Sara! Would you mind helping me when you have a minute?
I'm logged into IG on my PC, but don't have the 3 dots on the right. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Tammy...try this...use these shortcut keys.

login to IG, go to your page...then

Control + Shift i
Control + Shift m

then....drag your LO onto the mobile interface and then tap the "back key" (at upper left of chrome browser). Now you should be able to tap + key and load as you would on your phone.

the 3 dots are at the top right corner of your chrome browser ( but my way with shortcut keys doesn't require you to open that up)

Hmm, IDK. I've never had issues with that before, but I Googled it. Here is a link to a Google help thread that may help you: https://support.google.com/chrome/thread/2898374?hl=en

Oh gosh, we must have been typing at the same time, Rae.

Glad the shortcut keys work for you, Tammy! I just open Chrome and use that to log into IG. I like using the browser's interface but I'm old school lol!

Oh gosh, needing my help is bad. I am not a computer wizard lol. Maybe Rae's shortcuts will help you? If you don't drag/drop your layout, then you won't see the "+" button along the bottom. It's an odd step; I think it just tricks IG's web version into thinking you're on your phone. IDK why...because I am not a tech wizard. I'm a tech idiot who lucked into an IG trick.

I found this link, which has a different IG/Chrome method. Maybe that'll work for you? I'm sorry I can't help more...I'm not sure why your Chrome isn't showing anything when you follow the steps.

Here are my steps:

Login to IG and open your homepage.

Press Control + Shift + i on keyboard. Do it again if it doesn't switch to the mobile view (like your phone, the long rectangular shape). Don't worry, you won't see the bottom + (add) key yet. That's OK.

Now press Control + Shift + m on keyboard.

Open your folder on computer where your LO image is and drag it over onto the mobile view and drop it. Now you'll see your LO with black around it.

Press the left arrow key (back) which is at the upper left corner of chrome browser (to the left of the URL bar).

Now you'll see the bottom buttons on the mobile view (with the + button).

Now you click the + button and add your LO to IG just like how you do it on your phone.

Glad it's working for you now but it sucks that other things aren't. I can relate, I've had issues with windows 10 ever since I upgraded a few wks ago. It has all kinds of built in security and energy saving features that messes with functions. I've had to google like crazy to figure out what's happening and how to change the settings. I still have trouble with my tablet and mouse freezing up but not as much.I've spent hours researching and changing things. So far I am not liking windows 10.

Yay, glad it's working now, but BOO other stuff is acting up! Why do computers do that to us? And on that note, I'm glad Rae wrote out the steps she uses; hopefully that works for you (or anyone else) if my way stops working again. I'm going to try it myself--I've never tried the keyboard shortcuts.

Photoshop is giving me fits. Outlook isn't sending/receiving emails.
The monitor is turning off on it's on and refusing to turn on (we already knew we were going to claim it as damaged in the move).

I still have trouble with my tablet and mouse freezing up but not as much.I've spent hours researching and changing things. So far I am not liking windows 10.
Yes! You've had your fair share of troubles with computers lately!! I'm not minding 10--I hate the "windows" key on my keyboard. I'm ALWAYS hitting it when I'm doing my shortcuts in Photoshop. SO annoying!!

I'm going to try it myself--I've never tried the keyboard shortcuts.
Yes, thank you Rae for typing that all up! I did use your shortcuts last night and again this morning. Last night, not working. This morning, like a charm. It probably doesn't help that my kitties keep stepping all over my keyboard when I'm not at the desk. Who knows what buttons they are pushing/stepping on when I'm not there!

Ugh!! Well, a new monitor will be a nice thing. I hope the rest gets resolved easily!

Oh Wendy....that just made me laugh thinking about kitty paws all over the keyboard lol!

Taz will reach over sometimes and give the laptop keyboard a whack and changes the browser screen
