Photo Printing on Acrylic

Has anyone does this? It looks pretty cool and I'm looking for a neat way to get a couple of our Iceland photos printed for a dear friend who loves to travel, but can't due to dialysis.

I was going to go with gallery canvas, but now I'm curious about this acrylic process. The company site states it's 3/16-inch-thick acrylic and picture arrives ready to hang. I'd be printing about 11x14 size.

If you've printed on canvas and acrylic and can compare the two, I'd love to hear your pros and cons.
