One Word for 2011
I have read Ali Edwards blog for awhile now and I just really like the idea of the one word. One word that you focus on all year, and now I see she has a class for it too. So is anyone else taking the class or just choosing one word for 2011?

I like this idea. My word would be PHOTOGRAPHY. Yep.....focusing more on my pictures and taking photography classes. I am excited about it!

I really like this idea. I'll have to think about my word for 2011. Hmmm...

I'm not taking the class but I have a word. Intentional.
I need to live my life with intentional order instead of trying to fly by the seat of my pants and not moving forward or doing 1/2 the things I want to. |

I didn't really follow through last year. My word last year was worthy, but I still don't feel worthy.
My word for 2011 will be pride. I need to be proud of who I am and find my self confidence again.

my word will be educate as I am going back to school at the age of 23 to gain my nursing degree - it will take me 4 years as I have to do a foundation course first

I didn't do it this year and wish I had... but I'm having a hard time coming up with one for 2011. I've been thinking about it all week.

My word for 2010 was "selfless". But really all trying to be selfless did for me was to make me realize just how "selfISH" I am. So I'm hoping that in 2011 I will continue to make the choice to place others ahead of myself.

My word for 2011 is savor... I want to savor time and not always thinking or planning for future events... which is making time go by faster.

I linked up Ali's entire list of words for 2010. After I read through them, mine just kind of jumped out at me.

Thank you! I picked Joy because last year was really hard for me. I got laid off from my job and it sent me into a tailspin emotionally and I came really close to going to a doctor to get antidepressives. So I am ready to focus on the happy things in 2011. I can only go up from here.

I've not heard of one-word thing before, but last year I had picked PERSPECTIVE as what I wanted to focus on all year. 2010 was a rough year for us and that word did help. The roughness isn't over yet and I could use the same word again for 2011. But I think I'll give it some thought and I lilke the idea of doing a layout and keeping it visible to me all year.

My word is cherish. With my oldest graduating high school and going off to college, then my middle child starting her senior year, I need to cherish these fleeting moments with my kidlets. So, that's my word.

I almost did this for 2010 and didn't...now I wish I had. My word for 2010 would have definitely been CHANGE.
For 2011, I'm choosing PEACE. 1: a state of tranquillity or quiet 2: freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions 3: harmony in personal relations I'll be focusing on these 3 definitions, especially #2. |

My word is EXPAND. We are building a house in a new state, so we'll be moving, Liam will be starting at a new school, meeting old/new friends. I'm really looking forward to the adventures of the new year!

I hadn't heard of this before, but my word would have to be independence. DH is gong to be deploying this summer, for the first time in a LONG time, so I'm going to have to learn to be independent again before he leaves and be strong enough to handle everything once he leaves.

Last year my word was two words: live boldly. I did -- major changes in my work and daily life. It was an emotionally draining year, but I remembered my words and did what needed to be done.
This year my word was going to be "move." I made huge changes, but did not increase my physical activity and often ate my way through those changes. I'm at least 60 pounds overweight, and 35 pounds over where I feel comfortable. I gained back all those pounds in the last 3 years, and I know I'm not going to lose unless I exercise regularly. So my word is "move" to remind me to get up and move every single day. Then Cathy Zielske started her "move more, eat less" movement, and I adopted that phrase as my word for the year. Moving more and eating less seems like something I can achieve.

My word for 2011 is going to be focus. I get distracted way too easily and that affects so many areas of my life. So this year I am going to .. Focus.... on getting healthy and losing weight on my business and managing my time better on more quality time with my family and more one on one time with the kids and much more (not necessarily in that order)

my one word is
acceptance. i have lived way too high strung for way too long. i need to let things just roll off my back and go with the flow sometimes. this year will be more about just accepting things and living with a little bit more serenity instead of being so upset about things i just can't control

I've been thinking about my word for a few days now, and I haven't settled on one yet. I have a few things about myself I want to work on, so I'm trying to find a word that fits all of them.
Time - I need to prioritize my time better. Stop procrastinating. Be better at time management. Spend my time more wisely. Focus - I need to learn to focus in my life. Too many things pulling me in too many directions means that nothing get the focus it deserves. Patience - I need to learn to be patient. With myself. With others. With God. Acceptance - I need to learn to accept the things I cannot change, change the things that I can, and know the difference between the two. I need to accept things, good or bad, as they come and grow from the experience that those things give me. Lots of thinking going on over here.

Wellness - that's going to be my word. For me this encapsulates:
* physical wellness (i need to lose 20 pounds and definitely move more, i have neck problems and need to do my exercises more regularly, i need to go to bed earlier, take better care of my teeth and my skin.) * mental wellness (i can be really negative and need to focus more on the positive.) now to do a layout about it. maybe take a full body self portrait? ugh. |

I've been working on a project called Reverb 10, which helps you reflect on 2010 and manifest what's coming 2011. I just finished my 29th blog post of 31, and it has helped me SO much in being pensive about this last year and deciding what I want out of 2011.
My 2011 word, as I have iterated a few times during my Reverb project, is balance. Balancing everything is hard for me, but I am so happy when I am successful! |

I haven't decided yet on my word. I almost want to say ME. Not in a selfish way but as a reminder that I also need to take care of myself. I need to get healthy, lose weight, lose the stress in my life, find peace within myself and become a better me.
Another word that has been rolling around in my brain is CHANGE. There are many upcoming changes in 2011 and many things I need to change. MORE is another word. I need to give more, love more, participate more, fellowship more, reflect more, cherish more, etc.

My word this year is DELIGHT. I've been cranky lately & short tempered, especially with my kids so I am going to do my best to find delight more often.
2010's word was FORTITUDE and 2009 was EQUANIMITY |

My word for 2010 was Simplify....but it really should have been declutter. I decluttered my house (esp my basement), my cleaning routines, my projects, my committments outside the house. Now, I feel like I am really just doing the things I want (or have) to do.
My word for 2011 is JOYFUL. I want to be content with the way that things are, and to feel like I am having fun again. When I was thinking about it, the opposite of joyful is melancholy. That really sealed it for me. I want to be less negative, and to focus on the positive. I have lots to be thankful for, and I want to focus on those blessings in my life. Instead of the things that I can't fix or change.

I'll have to think more on 2011. |

Mine is thankful.
We've been having a very rough time financially in my family. It is so stressful and I'm constantly worried about making ends meet. I look at other friends my age and their husbands make a good living, they're buying houses & flat screen TVs & new trucks and SUVs. I battle with feelings of jealousy and wishing I was there worrying about what color to paint my house instead of worrying how I'm going to pay my bills and praying my car can last another year without needing any major repairs. I need to be more thankful for what I have and put a stop to the jealousy.

I really really want to take the class. It was on my x-mas list with a star and everything. I was just looking at the site and trying to decide if I should just get it for myself or not. LOL.
I'm still trying to decide on a word, but I think it may be **Sparkle** because I can apply that to so many aspects of life that I want to keep in mind as I am moving ahead. We'll see.

mine is believe.
I often go into situations thinking that I can't do something rather than thinking I can. I want to believe in myself that I can do things. I also avoid situations because I think people wouldn't care if I was there anyway and this avoidence will keep me from weirding out and not speaking like I tend to do, but I want to believe that people do like me and want me around. |
