Default The Grinch Visited Me...

Last night when we got home from work, we realized someone had broken in during the day. They took my dh's guitar, his guitar work box, my Canon Rebel and a box full of presents. Unfortuntely the majority of the presents they took were the homemade ones (hybrid chipboard albums and candles), so I am sure they are in a dumpster somewhere. Couldn't have been the clothes I bought at the store and could just go replace, right? No, it was the stuff I had spent months making. The part that really bothers me though is some jerk has lots of photos of my son now and some of my nieces. That's what upsets me the most. The cops took lots of pictures, there was footprints every where in the snow and in mud in our house, one set. They also took a couple of the presents to see if they could get some prints off them. We went to the store right away last night and bought some extra locks and stuff. I am just so upset about my camera and those photo album presents. What is kind of scary though is that there was a box in front of the tree with presents stacked in it and spilling over unto the ground, so did we come home while they were still in here? I always wanted a security alarm, but it felt silly cause we live in a very safe area compared to most cities this size. Guess not.

Oh Mari...I am so sorry. This is one of my biggest fears especially around the holidays. It makes me so mad that there are people in this world who resort to this kind of act.

I'm glad that you and your family are safe. {{HUGS}}

Question

I know how you feel we were robbed when we lived in NJ and it totally sucked, I hope they can get some prints and sorry the Grinch was so mean to you right before the holidays .

What a nightmare! I'm so sorry this happened to you and your family. The same happened to my friend 2 years ago and I know she felt so violated that someone had been in her home & went through all her personal effects. My heart goes out to you. I know I would be devastated if this happened to me and I can't believe all your precious handmade gifts are gone. What a shame! I hope that things get better & that there's a possibility that some of your stolen property is recovered. Even better....I hope the crook is apprehended!

When I realized that was missing is when I had to walk out of the room cause I started to cry. I can't believe I didn't look for it right away, I am guessing that I just couldn't dream that would be gone.

Im sooo sorry!!! This makes me so sad for you. A few years ago we had stopped at Popeyes to get something to eat after cashing my husbands check and I had what was left of it in my purse that I needed to buy my kids presents and I forgot my purse. Well someone turned my purse in minus the money for gifts of course. I was beside myself. We had to borrow money to get something for the kids that year. I just dont understand why someone would steal something like that especially around this time of year (not that its ok at anytime but Christmas is supposed to be a time of giving and caring) Well anyhow I really hope they find the people who did this and just a word of advice surveilence cameras are super super cheap(like 40 bucks at walmart) and they do not require much to set up. Even if you did not get an alarm a camera is well worth the investment.

I know...I have thought about asking dh about alarm...but no one on our block has one...so I am sure he would say no to begin with. There is almost always someone home here though...including our good-sized dog....

Here's hoping!!

Oh my goodness. I am so sorry that has happened to you! That sucks big time. My aunt had their house broken into while they were at Disney World a couple years ago, and they literally took everything they could, including food and my little cousins retainer. On top of that they destroyed what they didn't take. I don't understand why they would take your albums and stuff?!?! What good would they be to them? Ok I'm rambling, but I just want to know I will send some good thoughts your way and I hope your Holidays get better and they find the creeps who did it!

Just wanted to add to make sure you check around to your local pawn shops and such. My uncle checked almost every pawn shop in St. Louis and gave them all a list of what was stolen. He got a couple things back. I know you shouldn't have to do that, but...

We did call the pawn shops this morning and let them know to look for the camera, box and guitar. How sad about your aunt and uncle, jeez, nothing like taking it all.

Aweee Mari I'm so sorry this happened to you. We thought we lived in a safe area too..we had someone jerking on our backdoor one night...it happens to be we are total late night people...so I'm sure they ran off when i started yelling for my husband..and lets add we had just bought our honda civic..though it was a bit older not brand new and someone came and bashed out all our windows...not once not twice but 3 differen times..we were up to almost 2 grand in glass so we went and sold it to an older man who drove by the 3rd time and said "what do u want for it"...wow that was a total blessing in disguise..since then we have had our trash cans knocked over several times spilling our garbage too...I want a security system too and hoping to get one once i get my better job..in january...until then we shall stick with the redneck baseball bats that we have in the house...they used it on our car so..in return i'm very confident i could use it in return...i hate saying that. Why do people have to be so horrible...I don't understand that. I wish I could help you in some way. That's just terrible. I hope they find who did it!

Oh I am so sorry, that is just horrible.

On another messageboard I post on for moms in my area, someone's car was burgularized IN THEIR DRIVEWAY. They stole a number of valuable items, like an Ipod and other stuff I think. Here is the awesome part... they started searching Craigslist and Ebay for any seller who were selling a grouping of items similar to what was stolen from them... well, they actually DID find someone listing their stolen items from our city... did a little googling and found out the name associated with the Ebay seller's name and actually found out where this person lived! (real name through facebook I think...)

The police were able to verify the information, went and found him, caught him in a bunch of lies AND with the stuff he stole... he was so busted! And charges will be pressed...

So, thought occurs to me, might they try to sell anything they stole from you? It might be worth monitoring craigslist and ebay...
