Default My "new" office

Ladies....

I need some help. Right now I'm in the finishing part of my office remodel. All the furniture has been moved, built, and purchased.
Here's the placement of it all, now remember, it's NOT done yet!!! LOL

I have a 10 foot counter that will go across all the cubes, pretty much taking up the entire wall where my desk is. The counter is a neutral beige laminate, it will go with whatever I paint.

I'm kinda stuck on the way girlie paint colors of lavender, lime green, and pink. I'm willing to paint just about everything in this room. The only exception is the white cubes, I'd like those to stay white. I'm willing to paint my embellishment center too (you can see it on the floor). The expedits (the large bookcases can also be painted). Obviously, the blue closet will not be blue anymore. I also plan on painting the blue metal bins inside the one set of cubes.

Help me out ladies. What should I paint what? And yeah, the wire hanging across the wall won't be there. I didn't have a cable long enough.

Well I'm partial to green walls since that's what I have in my office and I LOVE it. Since you already have quite a bit of white furniture, I'd probably paint the Ikea bookcases white to match since they're so huge. Then you could use the pink and purple as accent colors for things like the blue bins or smaller pieces of furniture.

Yeah, sure! I don't think I have a picture of the entire room but this layout has a picture of my little scrap corner:

I think the paint color was Luau Green from Sherwin Williams.

Hey Samara,

As someone who has a pink, a lavendar and a bright green room in my house, I would recommend you go with the green for your office. My girls have a pink room that I couldnt imagine having as an office and it's pretty close to your paint swatch. We had a lavendar room that we couldnt stand and ended up painting it blue and we now have an apple green bathroom that I absolutely love being in.

Green walls with white furniture is the way to go - you'll love it!

I once painted a room green and it was BAD. I guess I need to find the right green. I think you girls are on to something though.

Green with pink and white accents would be pretty. I like the idea of painting the big bookcases white. Maybe I'll paint the shelves hanging on the wall pink?

I like the green. I think some pink accents with white furniture would be pretty.

So now that you've alll voted green for the walls which was really never an option, LOL, show me your favorite shades. You can even show me scrap kits you like with the right green.

I'm not committed to any particular accent color. SHow me your faves.

Samara, I just read an article in a home decor magazine that had a really neat idea for some "pop" in a room. You have those great "cubbie" shelving units and the article said that painting the front face of the shelves a bright pop of color makes a big impact. OR, if you have the walls of the room green, giving the shelves a white pop might be neat.
Just an idea that would be pretty simple.

That's EXACTLY what I was just thinking. Seriously, I was thinking of the face one color , the inside another, and the wall behind the shelf a whole different color.

LOVE it, Samara! I think when it comes to bright, bold colors, less is more. I think that the apple green color is perfect w/ the poppy accents and white as a "neutral". Too many more colors and it would get too overwhelming, ya know?

I would TOTALLY do the walls green... I love that. And yes, the bright orange would be SO fun with the green. I don't think I like the pink & purle... too "little" girlie for me. I'd want more bold... like the orange. HOW FUN!

That green is PERFECT! Be careful if you are trying for a more sagey green. I found while painting my house, it can look quite minty on the walls. Just a tip.

whoops!!! I also like it with the roman shade I have. If I keep it this color, I'll leave the expedits the natural birch color.

I realized that the pics I took looked way wrong. I tried to get a better one here. It's nearly the same shade as the leaves in the CT kit that SSD made for us for Christmas.

ok, I decided on a lighter shade than I had posted. This room is north facing and only one window. I had a feeling that it would be to dark in here.

The countertop is going in tomorrow and hubby informed me that I should have it painted.

Tomorrow I'll finish painting the rest of the room. This is called "corn husk" green by Behr.

I agree, the 1st one was too dark. I like the one you chose, very pretty... almost the same color as my girls' room.
