Default Anyone have...

...a food dehydrator you really like?

Gonna get one for my DH for Christmas, I think. If I can find one that works worth a durn. We have an old one with no fan and it takes for flipping ever so he's been wanting a new one but I know he won't buy one for himself.

I have a Nesco that I bought from amazon. It got decent reviews but really, I don't care for the smell. I can't tell you what the smell is like because it's just odd. Like a mix of motor oil and burning plastic. I have to use it in the garage. =\

Upon further review and dehydrator discussion, I wish I had bought the Excalibur. Pricey yes, but more pricey for me because I bought one for 75 bucks that I hate. =\

I really want one of those that Jen posted. My husband and I have looked at a couple different ones at Gander Mountain everytime we go there. My son absolutely loves jerky and Id love to be able to make some for him. I also love banana chips and would love to make some homemade

We bought an American Harvest (Nesco) dehydrater this summer when bananas were 15 cents a pound. I beleive the model is FD60. Really pleased with it- the trays fit in the kitchen sink for easy cleaning. DH says Walmart on line has this for 45$- I think. Try to get a dehydrator that doesn't require tray rotation and has adjustable temperatures. I used to have an Excaliber- large trays- had to clean them in the tub and rotate the trays- what a pain.
