Good Circle Cutters?
I am doing alright with glueing a page on my chipboard and sanding, but my circles never come out right. Does anyone have any good recommendations for circle cutters? I've seen an ad for a Martha Stewart/CK one that cuts 72 different sized circles with this little disc and a knife/stylus for under $20 that I'm thinking about, but I'd love some other recommendations!

I have yet to find a circle cutter I like. I usually resort to careful cutting.
I also haven't looked all that hard. I bought 2 and I don't like either, so I stopped looking, lol.

I have the Creative Memories Cutting System from way back in my paper scrapping days and it still works okay so I've been using it for hybrid stuff. But that Martha Stewart/CK one sounds interesting! Anyone got a linky??

I love that it looks so simple (not gigantic, not a lot of parts to break/store and its so much cheaper than a dozen circle punches... but I wanna know if it works!

I have a fiskars one, that's like an arm that you spin around, DO NOT get that one. Blegh.
The other one I don't even remember. I threw it out. But I think it was something similar with an arm. I don't know what I was thinking.

Well that does look really cool, I wonder too if it works though! I saw that Walmart is carrying Martha stuff now, I wonder if they'll have it?

I saw that too, and got excited - but I do have my 40% off coupon for Michaels, and I have to go pick up some modpodge and those ring things to hold mini albums together and probably some ribbon... LOL so I've decided I'm going to pick one up if they have it, and then I'll give all you girls a review.

Oh yeah gotta love the 40% off coupons from Michael's! But I thought they couldn't be used on the Martha stuff? Or did they change that policy?

I think it can be used in the Martha stuff now. I could be wrong about that but I was thinking they changed that.
In my paper days I used the coluzzle system and loved it. Not sure if they make it anymore so you all may want to kick me out of this but I used it all the time and it was pretty easy to use and not very bulky. Ok I just looked it up and yes they do still make it. Here is a little linky poo to help ya! http://coluzzle.com/products/index.p...hp?cl=coluzzle They have lots of fun shapes and even some for cute 3D projects. The basic shapes are under "Nested Shapes."

I have the Making Memories one with the "arm" you rotate around to cut....I dont recommend that one unless you like to waste a lot of paper and shout obscenities at inanimate objects.

This is what I use too - had it for YEARS and its never failed me - plus I like that it cuts through chipboard too.

You can use the 40% off for Martha stuff now at Michaels - AC Moore and Walmart are carrying Martha now too.

I've got the Creative Memories one as well, I don't think I'd ever try another one, I love this one so much!

Another MM one here! I had the 1st one they made with the arm and it was kinda difficult to use. But the newer system is awesome. I can't say I have anything to compare it to though cuz it's all I've ever used. Plus, I think MM can be kinda pricey.

I too have the "old" Creative Memories cutting system. I love it and probably won't buy anything else...at least not until this one breaks.
Love everyone's input on the different tools though!

Yes yes!! I bought the circle cutter yesterday, but we've had family here all weekend so I havn't had time to play with it. Tomorrow. It looks really cute, and simple to use. The price (Canadian) was 27.99 but of course I had my Michaels 40 % off coupon...

Okay, so I've had a chance to play with it a little bit - I LOVE THIS THING!
I havn't taken photos of it, but it looks just like it does on the Walmart ad, so there really isn't anything else I can show you. I have never had scrapping tools, so I don't have a lot of experience with this stuff, but already I LOVE this thing! There are 72 different slots to create that many different circles, and it is SO accurate and easy to use! ( you could also use a pencil to draw circles!) The completly transparent disc swivels on bearings which is silent and very smooth, and the cutter is lightweight, covered in grippy rubbery stuff and swivels freely too, so you don't have to turn your hand at all while cutting a circle. IT's FAST! It is very sturdy, thick plastic, but not heavy. The only things I would have liked it to have are a center point so I can center circles I'm cutting out that are pre-designed and printed out (not just a circle out of a big piece of patterned paper, for instance) or maybe markings to place over a circle. This comes with three blades which are easily stored inside the handle of the cutter, which seem very sharp - I had no trouble cutting through paper, cardstock, accetate, and light cardboard - but I havn't yet tried chipboard. The price is great for what you get, I think. $27.00 in Canada, advertised as 14.99-17.99 USA. It's a very simple, easy to use piece of equipement! I'm putting my first project togehter with it tonight so I'll post photos tomorrow. Last edited by stayawake; 08-11-2008 at 02:05 PM. |

I was at Walmart yesterday & they did have it Mimi!! It was only $14.97 I think, I'm definitely going to pick one up after payday! Not sure what Michael's regular price on it is here (more than $15 I'm sure), they do have 40% coupons this week though!
Thanks so much for the great review Lindy I can't wait to get one myself & try it out!

I snagged one today while Jordan was grabbing the lunch meat
I agree that it'd be much better if it had a centerpoint on it. But I made a few cuts and it works awesome, I'm excited! LOL!
