Default Yippie I got an IPhone

My husband surprised me with an IPhone today as a belated Mothers Day gift. I am in heaven. I've been wanting one every since they came out but we just didn't have the money for it.

&& some even better news after fighting with the Army & the VA since 2009 my husband finally got approved for his 100% disability rating last week. This is a huge for us. He literally can not work at all and if I went into all of the details why he would be embarrassed so I won't. So after jumping through every hoop we've had to and having them turn him down once this is amazing for us.

but I know a few of you have IPhones so what are the most have apps? I have facebook, twitter, my email, instagram, avon apps and thats about it so far.

My favorite apps are game ones like Phase 10, Words with Friends, etc.

Congrats on the 100%! That is a huge deal!

Congrats on the disability coming through for you guys and yay for an iPhone!

If you are into rewards programs at all, definitely get Viggle - you get points for watching tv! I earn a $5 gift card about once a week with it.

For games, I like Words with Friends, Hanging with Friends and Scramble with Friends (though I've been busy and am behind on them - sorry friends!) and Draw Something. I also like Drop7 - it's a fun vaguely Tetris like game. Tiny Tower is a mindless fun time suck game

I use the Pinterest app, the PayPal app to monitor my account, if you read, get the Nook and/or Kindle app - I have a Nook and it syncs with it - there are lots of free books on both though... I like the iHeart Radio and Pandora apps for music.

For productivity and such, I love Cozi (free) for to-do lists, calendar (app't keeping) and shopping lists, as well as iXpenseIt ($4.99 but WELL worth it) to keep track of our expenses. Evernote, Shazam (if you don't know what or who sings a song, just let it listen to it and it'll tell you) & Night Sky (to see where the planets/constellations are in relativity to where you are positioned) are nice too.

I don't have iphone, I have a droid. However, I love my Draw Something game, my Bills Reminder app, Pandora for the music, and my friend just put Shazam on my phone and omg, that is fun - lol! You may have heard of it before but I never had - it recognizes the music is hears in the room and pulls up the lyrics, the cd cover, etc. Im easily impressed! LOL!!!

Congrats on the VA rating! I know all too well the hell you must have gone through. Hopefully they back date it to day one... that'll be a lump of cash to go buy more apps with! LOL! ;-) DH went through that red tape o' mess in 2008 but in the end, he was successful.

Thanks ladies!

Arual - they back dated it to the day he applied the 2nd time. We are now fighting to have it back dated to when he applied the first time. The joys of the VA. Everyone but 1 person is saying yes. The one person saying no is the last signature we need for it to be approved.

Hang in there Melissa, patience is key when working with the VA, as you have already learned. I think it's awful that our husbands who have served our country, and who many have gone on war deployments many o' times as well, have to fight for what is theirs! I was so frustrated during the process.... I just kept saying to myself over and over "he comes back from war in this mess of a state, and THIS is how you treat him? He is so physically messed up, all from serving this country, and THIS is how you treat him?!" ... I was so frustrated and mad..... mad I tell ya! I never imagined that my husband could deploy to war so many times, over and over, and be treated like this in the end. I was mad at the Marine Corps and I was mad at the VA .... not even sure why I was mad at the Corps, it wasn't their fault, LOL! I was just mad at the world I guess for my husband not being treated right.

However, I will say, that the VA did send him a very long letter apologizing to him for being treated the way he had and in the end, they made everything right.

i want one, we may get one i January when we are eligible for special pricing. i have a Blackberry Torch right now.

and congrats on the VA disability. my husband has been on 100% since '07. unfortunately, the VA assigned a fiduciary to control/handle his benefits so we can't touch it. they give us $250/week to live off of and after paying our monthly bills the rest is in a savings account. that we can't touch. they declared him 'incompetent' which is bullshit because I"M the one that handled the money and paid our bills.

sorry for the rant, it's a big frustration on our end. you have money you can't touch unless they feel like giving extra to you.

Wow, I never heard of this happening before Corey! Ugh! Is there a way to get this reversed? I'd be so mad and frustrated! Your his wife, why can't they allow you to be in charge of it? Oh.. it's the VA... I don't think any of us will ever reallllllly understand some of the decisions they make!

we are trying to fight it, but i don't seen an end in sight. they did tell us that at some point we will be given control back but that they would be watching us. if we over spend and extend our credit too much they will take back control.

they did help us pay off a lot of things, so that is good. we had a repossessed van that we owed $11,000 on that they settled and paid off for $3700. they have paid off a couple loans we had. they paid off a credit card, though Chad used it again and plus got two more. which we have to pay because they were mad at him for getting them after they paid them off. which i understand; my husband is careless with money. he wants what he wants and doesn't think about the consequences later. they have since blocked his credit. we were approved for a home loan last summer but they made us back out because they said we can't afford it, which is crap. but they said once we have everything paid off we may be able to get a loan later. but who knows. i have been trying to find a part time job so we have more money per week because with us and 3 kids $250 doesn't stretch far at times.

On my phone, my favorites games are Ellen's Know or Go and UNO. I also love SeussBand - it's like Dr. Seuss meets Guitar Hero or Rock Band. lol

I love the Pinterest App, ShopShop for grocery lists, Chore Pad for the kids chore chart and FB of course.

Most of the apps we get go on the iPad and the kids iPods. I like to keep my phone pretty clean.
