Makeup Help (foundation question)
What kind of foundation do you use? I have age spots on my cheeks and I've actually had people try to wipe the "dirt" off my face. I think I need somthing that is a little heavier. What brand do you use?
Thanks a million!!! Kj

I use Mary Kay's foundation. I have super oily skin and this is the only foundation that does not make me break out but also doesnt feel like its caked on.

I use the L'Oreal mineral powder. I also have age spots and this covers them up. I really really dislike liquid foundation because as I get older it makes me look older by settling into the fine lines. I will never go back to liquid since using the mineral powder.

Do you have dry or oily or normal skin?
I was watching What Not To Wear the other day and the makeup lady said that if you have dry skin, then wear a liquid foundation, but if you have oily then do a mineral powder or aerosol foundation. So it depends on how your skin is. I've been using Mary Kay mineral foundation and I love how the color matches my skin and doesn't feel all makeup-y but I do feel like I don't have a lot of coverage sometimes too. I use a concealer as well but then if it is more than a spot I feel like I'm just putting on a bunch of makeup anyway. So I don't know. I have a hard time matching my skin color though so I'm leery of trying anything else! |

Depends on the day lol.
I'm a makeup junkie. I switch between BareMinerals, L'oreal True Match mineral foundation and Revlon colorstay liquid foundation with softflex. And I always use a good moisturizer first. Sometimes I add a primer. And I always apply my foundation with a brush. The bareminerals and L'oreal mineral foundation come with brushes. For my revlon I just put a pea size amount on the back of my hand and then put the brush in it and swirl it onto my face.

I have been using aqua vitalumiere and I really like it.. it is pricier than drugstore BUT i find that i'm saving money because i'm not buying a bottle of foundation that i haven't been able to try and then have it not work and then keep continuing to buy foundation that just ends up being wasted.
The foundation I have is lightweight and not a real full coverage but there is another chanel vitalumiere that is supposed to be slightly fuller that I might try next time I've had this foundation since spring and haven't had to get a new one yet. Your best bet would be to go to a makeup counter - get them to test the foundation on you and then walk around for awhile and see how it feels/lasts on your skin. You can go to sephora or you can go to other department stores that have other brands etc. |

Thank you for the suggestions. As I've gotten older my skin is dry during the day and oily at night. ROFL.

I have been using Revlon Age Defying (with an SPF, I think it's 15), for years.

I used to use Clinique which was great. My neighbor was selling Mary Kaye a few years ago and got me to try it and I switched to it -- just as good as Clinique for me and less expensive.

After YEARS of not wearing any (got so tired of feeling like liquid foundation was clogging up my pores and sliding off my face in the summer lol) I use mineral make-up called 'nude by nature' - it feels lovely and light, and covers well. L-O-V-E it, but usually only wear it to work, dont bother at home . . my lil girl actually said the other day 'oh mummy, are you going to work today, you look beautiful' hehehehe!

I have tried SO MANY foundations looking for the perfect one-and I have come to believe that my skin changes throughout the year and thus my foundation must as well...I have totally been digging Revlon's newest anti-aging DNA whatevah the last few weeks. I can really tell a difference in the tone of my skin and also see a noticeable difference in my fine lines and *gasp* wrinkles.

I love MAC makeup and use it. I also just switched over to a new sunscreen that is tinted that we sell at our salon by Janssen. It is really good.

I´ve used Helena Rubinstein Color Clone (EXPENSIVE!) for some years now, but then I tried Clinique and I´m VERY happy with it so far. They also have one foundation which is called "Even Better", they say that it´ll remove these age spots after a while using. I haven´t tested it out, but heard a lot of great things about it! It may worth a try!

I went to a certain makeup store on Saturday and one of the makeup artists recommended Paula Dorf (around $46.00 a bottle). She put it on me in the store and it looked great. Well....the next morning I went to put it on and it was like sand paper. There was grit in the bottle and it was disgusting. GRRRRR.
Thanks for the suggestions! I've got a few I want to try for sure!!!

Oh Kjersti! perfect timing! I just went out yesterday and had a make-over at MAC. It was awesome. They guy who did my makeup had fabulous eyeshadow and gave me some great tips.
anyhow - I converted to a liquid foundation because the powders just aren't lasting for me. He selected me one that is not matte, not oily either. It's called "Matchmaster" and it's in a glass bottle with a little pump on it. I bought the brush that he used to apply it - so I "painted" it on. IT LASTED ALL DAY! I honestly looked awesome when I got home at 5:40. Seriously. I highly recommend heading in to give it a try before yo buy something else! It was $32. But since I've wasted that much at Wal Mart trying other brands, I feel like it was $32 well spent |

I sure will...I'm wondering if the box somehow got left in a hot place before I bought it and the consistancy turned weird. I'll take it back tomorrow and get a new bottle.
