Ugh... just the thought of scrapping a page just traditionally... and I get all clammy and throw up a bit in my mouth... lol! Yet - can I get rid of all the paper in my basement... nope... I have to keep some, just in case...

I keep trying to scrap a page traditionally, but can't seem to do it. Except for my kids' school albums which is basically just putting their school picture on one side of the layout and class photo on the other, then putting any certificates and school papers in page protectors in between. Anything else for that year I'm scrapping digitally. I don't really count that as paper scrapping .

ETA: I've pretty much given up and I've decided to get rid of all my old paper supplies. At least all the patterned papers, I may keep the solids for card-making (for now).

I like to make paper mini albums for vacations and special events. Sometimes I mix in digital, but putting my hands on paper feels good sometimes.

I still like doing paper once in awhile... I meet up with friends at Archivers once in awhile and it's a great excuse for me to finish up some of my older albums

I was a die-hard paper scrapper for years and years before going digital. I had an entire room filled with racks and racks of papers, shelves and drawers of ribbons, flowers, brads, etc (now granted, i did a lot of work for mags & manufacturers, so I didn't pay for most of it)... but still, a TON of stuff.

Then I thought I'd just "try" digi back in 2006.

I kept all my paper stuff for a long time even though I never used it. Then I sold off a lot of it thinking i'd keep the basics for cards and stuff. After a couple of years of that and when I got ready to move, i realized that it was all just collecting dust. So, i got rid of all my paper supplies, and it's SO freeing!

I use to do paper scrapbooking but since I've started digital scrapbooking I haven't touched any of my paper stuff. In fact I doubt I'll go back to it.

ahh love it! I'm not the only one!

I just did a traditional one and it was a patterned paper, one photo, one paper... and a stamped word with some small journaling... yep thats it

thats really cool Libby that you worked with mags and manufacturers. Sounds like a fun job!

i've been 'only digi' for about 8 months now, though I hadn't bought traditional 12x12 paper in over 3 years prefering to only print what I need from digi designers. I tossed all my paper products (paper, stickers etc) at the begining of the year and kept only the brads and blings and ribbons. But I actually have no desire to use it. I'll give it a few more months then if I have not used it, I'll get rid of those too

I'd love to scrap some of my older photos traditionally rather than scanning them, but first I have to buy all the supplies (I don't have anything ). And I prefer buying digital kits.

No. I don't scrap on paper, for the simple reason that I don't like paper pages. I like doing hybrid - for cards etc., but I don't see the point of paper scrapbooking. This isn't meant in a bad way, it's just it doesn't speak to me. If it wasn't for digital, I wouldn't be scrapbooking at all.

I never tried to paper scrap. I loved looking at other people's books, but I never tried it myself. I think it was mostly for the reason that I knew I'd get addicted and want rooms of stuff...but I knew I didn't have the time, the room, nor the money, to be a paper scrapper. Love digi!

I used to paper scrap. But when I look back at the pages I did then, I hate most of them. Plus: the albums are soooo heavy! Still, I haven't been able to get rid of all my paper stuff. My hubby hates it, but I still have half a room filled up with paper supplies. I keep thinking I might need them again or maybe dd will want to use them in her art projects.
Besides, I doubt anyone will want to pay for papers that are 6 years old, lol.
I might get rid of the tools though. I had to have it all: an embossing tool, stamps, eyelets and punches,... You name it, I have it!

i tried paper scrapping a few times but I am no good with scissors or any other type of cutting tool apart from knives & knives don't work well with scrapping.

And there is no undo option with paper, once it is cut wrong, well... that's it, use more paper to try & fix it... rapidly it becomes unaffordable.

Digi all the way

Like Libby, I was a die-hard paper scrapper (without the cool gigs! LOL), and promptly gave it up in 2006 when I found digi. I scrapped a few times at retreats to finish up my old paper albums, but realized I just disliked it tremendously. I got rid of just about everything soon after.

I made exactly one paper page back in 2005 before I started digi..it looked like something you put in a high school memory book lol. So I ditched that idea and can't even imagine doing paper. I admire paper scrappers...I wish I had the time, money and patience but I don't. I get frustrated if a digi page takes me longer than like an hour lol

I started paper scrapbooking in 1996 and scrapped all the time. But I started digi about 5 or 6 years ago and haven't been back since. My digital pages are so much better, but now I have mounds of paper supplies that are stuck up in my attic. I need to get my butt in gear and just sell some of it... But at this point, I've been thinking of giving most of it to my kids for craft projects.

I spent over an hour scanning all my paper supplies to use digitally... but I still haven't used them and they're just sitting on a DVD disc somewhere (I don't even know where lol)

All my scrapbooking these days is digital. I use to rock the paper scrapbooking though. I still have a majority of my supplies and can't seem to get rid of them. Currently trying to find storage solutions for my new study to house it all. It drives my hubby crazy because I haven't used it much in the last 3 years.

I've never once scrapped a traditional paper scrapbook page and I never want too!!!! Now I love me some hybrid...but even then most of it's 90% digital and I've stuck a flower here and a button there and then maybe ran it through my sewing machine.....I don't like paper scrapping!!!

Like Nikki, I did 1 paper page before going over to digi. No, that's not true. I did 1 paper page, then 1 hybrid page (mostly done on the computer), then tried 100% digi and never looked back. I can't cut a straight line--what was I thinking trying to paper scrap? My paper page looks like a kindergartner made it. I have a small stash of bling, ribbons, ink, and adhesive purchased for hybrid cards, but that's it.

I still have too much craftelated physical stuff I can't part with, but mine is yarn and fabric that I don't use much anymore. I keep telling myself that I will go back to crocheting and sewing one day. Maybe I will...I'm making a baby blanket for my first nephew right now, and it's reminding me how much I like it. That happens every time I get close to donating all of it, LOL.

I started paper scrapping 18 years ago ... I went digi ... and I was never again happy with my paper scrapping ... so little by little I have sold probably 90% of my paper supplies ... I still have some for hybrid projects.

This is actually not legal to do. It's copyright infringement. It sucks really, but that is one of the reasons I'm so glad some of the paper companies are now selling digital stuff. My scraproom is based on a paper line by Basic Grey and they have finally released it digitally. Expensive but it beats running out of what I need.

I was a decent paper scrapper for several years. But now? Who knows if I could still manage a page or not! It always drove me crazy that my cut paper edges were never straight (stupid fiskar cutters) now that I have the perfection of digi forget going back. I still have a stash of "good" supplies (ie expensive crap) that I just can't manage to give up. I think I need a 12 step program or maybe a counselor from "Hoarders" to come and help me part with that last special piece of paper

One of the proofs how copyright law is out of hand. You buy something and then you cannot scan it for PERSONAL purposes? So uncool.

I disagree truthfully. I don't see it any differently than digital copyright or book copyright.

The paper scrap products that were bought are consumables. Meant for a single use...if someone scanned it and used it, more than once, digitally or printed and used it that way then they are losing money. You might could get away with it if you scanned it, detroyed the paper version and ONLY used each item once, EVER...but what would be the point of that really? All that work for a one time use just isn't worth it.

Digital scrapbooking has already hit the paper industry pretty hard. Not just the big manufacturers but also the small, local scrapbook stores. To me the LSS's are the equivalent to individual digital designers.

But yeah, that's just my two cents worth.

If I scan the paper, use it for a paper project and then use the scanned version for a digital project, the paper company doesn't lose any money because I wouldn't buy the paper a second time around to use it anyway (not for a digital project)... UNLESS, of course, they also have a digital version of the paper, in that case it makes sense that I should buy it. But if it only exists on paper I don't see the point - I paid for it, why can't I use it as I like if I don't make money with it? Of course, my opinion doesn't count - if it's not allowed to scan it, it's not allowed, nothing I can do about it but accept it.

ETA: I have to add that it never occurred to me to scan a paper to use it digitally, and now I'm glad it didn't. ;-)

This is me. I was rubber stamping and then paper scrapbooking for many years before going digital. But I haven't used the paper stuff much since then. For me the issue is how much adhesive I have to use

I've thought about giving up some of the paper and stickers, etc., but I keep finding something I can do with it here and there (esp. hybrid projects), so I don't give it up. And every once in a while I get a little more paper (usually petelated) and other "stuff".

I agree with you FireWolf. I have a number of people I know in the paper scrapping world (both designers and store owners) and times have been tough on the industry and them for several reasons, including the move of some people to digital.

yea I realize I was talking about the stuff she has she actually wants to scrap...like birth announcements, birth certificate, sonograms, etc (I am assuming what she wants to scrap since she did not say) I never said or meant for her to scan her paper scrapping supplies.

I never did actually answer the original question, other than my vote in the poll.

I'm pretty much the odd one out, I think. I started digital scrapping in 2003, even designed for awhile, made a few hybrid projects using digital papers as well. In 2004 I switched completely over to paper and started teaching classes in 2005. Late in 2007 I came back to digital, primarily hybrid layouts. I haven't done any real scrapping for the past year, but I'm working on changing that right now. I'm pretty sure I will stay a paper/hybrid scrapper forever, but I usually do everything digitally first. There is just something about the feel of everything in my hands...Apparently I like to touch everything when I'm scrapping.

Oops, fair enough...I totally misunderstood what you meant...Sorry!

While I am sad that small scrapbooking stores are going out of business, I feel a whole lot better buying my scrapbooking supplies here at Sweet Shoppe, knowing that most of the money I spend goes pretty much straight to the designers. I don't like spending my money at big box craft stores too often. I like the fact that many of the designers here are moms who are able to spend time raising their families while having a creative and interesting job.

Thats ok. I didnt think about scanning paper supplies so I figured she would know I meant to just scan what she was trying to scrap and do it digitally. Of course I dont know if what she wants to scrap is actually something she could scan but I have scanned stuff like movie tickets and my daughters homecoming or prom tickets to include in the layout for her and it worked ok

When I first started digital, I thought I would never go 100% digital. Ha. I'm 100% digital and don't own any traditional paper, stickers, etc. I do still have my trimmer and some corner punches. Oh and ribbon. But I'm not sure why?

Heh, I think there were more of us who misunderstood. Yup, scanning things is a great way of incorporated some "real" items in the LO and a nice compromise if you no longer want to do paper and still have those things as a part of your LOs. :-)

I never paper scrapped but have always saved little momentos. Artwork, cards, ticket stubs etc. So I of course wanted to scrap some of it. So I could either do it all digital by scanning, all paper and lose the actual item in the layout or you could do a hybrid by creating a layout and printing it then adding the item to the layout in some way.

This is me. I went digital several years ago, but just can't seem to get rid of my paper supplies. They sit there in the hope I'll do something hybridy with them....

I forgot to add, I bought lots of paper scrapping supplies (including papers, scissors, stamps, eyelet kit, embossing supplies, etc.) and maybe scrapped half a page. The problem was that there was always SOMETHING missing and the page was never really going to look like the fab layouts in the magazines.
I LOVE DIGITAL SCRAPBOOKING KITS! And they do not take up space in my house. And I actually scrap some pages! Except this month. I am keeping the paper supplies though, because my kids love arts and crafts and I know they'll figure out something to do with everything. And I do like to do some hybrid scrapbooking. I just have no desire to create scrapbook pages on paper.
