Default What made you smile today?

Just because the week has started so well... (my kids started their once per week daycare yesterday, yay!) and my heart is overflowing with happy today...

What made you smile today?

For me, it's chatting most of the morning with an old friend . Not having to get out of my comfy clothes because DH is 'working' close to home today so he took oldest to preschool & will pick her up. It's fall. I got to spend most of the morning scrapping.

This is a little thing... when I picked up my daughter from school and asked her about her day and what went on, she said she was moved (and there was happiness in her tone)... so I asked if she liked where she was moved to (talking about her desk) and she said yes. She was moved somewhere all by herself and really likes it.

I had to smile because that is SO me. Something about being by yourself in class, working on things... no distractions. She has plenty of friends, but she's independent and likes alone time too.

And well, the fact that my baby has been napping for 3 1/2 hours is pretty awesome too!

We finally announced to the kids today what they were being for Halloween.

Why it makes me smile, is the kids watched the movie this morning and Naomi was running around the house, saying, "For Halloween I'm going to be a cute ghost and Parker is going to be a buster! And he's going to suck me up with his vacuum!"

with my birthday coming up, my four year old is getting really excited about it... this morning he came up to me and said, "I have a surprise gift for you..." and he gave me a bag of his little books... then he gave me a surprise gift, a container of waffle golf balls... and then a third gift (and my favorite)... he found a piece of scrap ribbon and wrapped it around a nickle... I love my little guy!

Zach and I laid in bed for 20 minutes this morning saying "ohhhhhhhhhh" back and forth, talking, babbling, and smiling. He's such an awesome kid.

I got a huge smile (and still am smiling) tonight when Cheyanne scored her first goal on the school soccer team She's one of only two 6th graders on the school team (the rest being 7th and 8th graders), and she was so pumped after she got that goal. It was even more awesome because it was their closest game all season (they won 3-2) - the rest of the games they've been winning by 5 or 6 goals).

Major breakthrough with a student. I had just about given up hope because I had tried every trick I had from 15 years of teaching, and today it connected. Got all teary eyed. I love my job and having the opportunity to work with students who are getting their first taste of school.

Is it wrong that I smiled when the maintenance man who has been giving us the runaround for the last week told me the reason he was late today was because he got a speeding ticket?!

I smiled when J. picked up Monkey and danced her around the dining room this afternoon after their snack. When he does something silly like that, she'll sneak a quick glance over at me as if to say (a) Do you see what Daddy's doing? and (b) What are we going to do with this guy?!

I'm having coffee with one of my most favorite people in the world today. I've been looking forward to it all week.

And tomorrow we're heading to Singapore, where we'll meet up with Joel, who's been in the Philippines for the last two weeks, and then I'm going to Jakarta BY MYSELF for FOUR DAYS! I am already packing, lol, and I've got two books and three movies packed. I plan on making the most of my alone time, as well as seeing a good friend and picking up some used homeschool material.

During bedtime storytime, Rachel decided to read her new library book to me...and she did really well! It's the first time she's really read a book to me that we haven't read before (ie memorized LOL), and she only needed help with a few of the big words.
This bookworm mama is tickled!
